The defending champs appear to already be in stride this season. Last year marked BMW's return to DTM racing and it was a spectacular season with BMW capturing the championship in the final race with a classic come from behind victory. No excuses regarding inexperience, rust, or not having a full field of cars this year and excuses are not needed. Agusto Farfas took the victory for BMW followed by Dirk Werner for BMW Team Schnitzer. ...Published on 05-07-2013 10:01 PM
Volkswagen told Edmunds that upcoming performance versions of the MKVII Golf will feature a carbon fiber roof. The most obvious performance version coming is the Golf R which is expected to be pretty much be a re-skinned Audi S3. That means less weight (about 150 pounds less) and more power from a 2.0 liter turbo direct injected motor at just under 300 horsepower. With all wheel drive and DSG it should be quite the hot hatchback. ...Published on 05-07-2013 08:27 AM
Sad, sad day indeed for the BMW community. The aftermarket tuning game is not an easy one. Especially when it comes to BMW's these days with ever increasing sophistication of their electronics and BMW doing everything in their power to prevent modification. Thankfully, there are some companies that simply do not give up and do what many say can't be done. For quite a while on the E46 M3 platform, HPF was forging ahead into territory nobody else was willing to tackle. ...Published on 05-07-2013 07:33 AM
Here it officially is, the Renntech M157 turbo upgrade package which will retail for $11,850. Several dynos has been posted showcasing the strength of this package including a 691 wheel horsepower run on 93 octane pump gas which they when were able to raise to 725 wheel horsepower being the first and only tuner to crack the 7XX horsepower barrier on pump gas. Very impressive results and huge gains over the stock cars. ...Published on 05-07-2013 06:05 AM
Wow. Quite simply, wow. Talk about a car that just right out of the box impresses. Close to mid 10's and 130 in a stock car, incredible. The 997.2 Turbo S simply is a epic achievement. The launch control and PDK transmission clearly help as a 1.58 60 foot is mind boggling for a stock car on street rubber. The launch control system works and works very damn well. The result using it is a 10.672@129.80 for what is a new stock 997 Turbo 1/4 mile record. ...Published on 05-07-2013 02:50 AM
The Toyota 2JZ motor. The engine out of the Toyota Supra that has reached legendary status in tuning circles and was every teenage boys dreams ever since its "iconic" scene in the Fast and Furious movie. Some BMW enthusiasts go so far as to compare their six-cylinder motors to it as if that is some kind of badge of honor. Regardless, here is someone who took their 2JZ love a bit too far and decided to swap the motor into an E30 3-Series. ...Published on 05-07-2013 02:13 AM
The 2013 season has been a letdown thus far for the Mercedes AMG team. Everyone expected stronger competition especially after the signing of Lewis Hamilton and Daimler assuming full control of the F1 team. Things looked pretty good with Mercedes AMG sitting on the pole for the last two races but unable to turn their strong starting position into some big points to move up in the standings. Mercedes currently sits in fourth place and is a long way from challenging for the championship. ...Published on 05-07-2013 12:10 AM
This topic at this point is just exhausting. The car is perpetually on again off again without any definitive decision being reached. The car was put on indefinite hold last year while VW evaluated whether it made any sense considering it would take 50,000 yearly unit sales for the model to be profitable. VW design chief Walter de Silva believes the vehicle would be good for the brand and recently stated he is for it being built, "This is a vehicle that we particularly like, and we always have in mind." ...Published on 05-05-2013 07:12 AM
Well, no big surprise here seeing Audi continue to go undefeated after the second round of the FIA WEC (World Endurance Championship). Audi even managed to get all three R18 E-tron Quattro cars on the podium with a perfect 1-2-3 finish. Pretty much as expected after the Audi E-Tron Quattros qualified a perfect 1-2-3. The third round is the 24 Hours of Le Mans and considering Audi was testing the aerodynamics they will be running for the 24 Hours at this race, they sure seem ready for another Le Mans victory. ...Published on 05-05-2013 03:58 AM
So you know that awesome BMW S85 V10 revving over 8000 rpm giving somewhat of a direct link to the Motorsport division that seemed equally at home in an Italian exotic as it did under the hood of a BMW sport sedan? Yep, that one with the individual throttle bodies, over 100 horses per liter, that won all those awards, and that you could not get anything like it in a 550i, 545i, 535i, 530i, 528, or 525i? You know, a real unique M motor made specifically for an M car and only available in an M car? Say goodbye to ever seeing that again. ...Published on 05-05-2013 03:24 AM
Well here is a nice piece of news for those considering picking up a 2.0 TSI Volkswagen any time soon. The Jetta GLI, Beetle Turbo, and Bettle Turbo Convertible will all get the new 3rd generation EA888 2.0 turbo motor replacing the 2nd generation motor currently used from the middle of 2013 on. The Gen 3 TSI offers a bump of 10 horsepower over the Gen 2 TSI motor and this power comes 200 revs higher in the rev range. Torque stays the same 207 pound-feet. ...Published on 05-04-2013 07:23 AM
Nice set of runs here showing a W204 C63 AMG Black Series with a Renntech tune and Renntech headers going up against a Ferrari F430, Cadillac CTS-V Coupe, BMW E63 M6, BMW F10 M5, and a W204 C63 AMG sedan. The C63 Black Series does incredibly well considering that there is not too much power to squeeze out of the aggressively tuned black series as Renntech showed with 15-19 wheel horsepower gains tunes only. The headers sure do appear to be making a nice difference. ...Published on 05-04-2013 07:01 AM
Very interesting race here where the top end of the S85 V10 in the E63 M6 impresses. The CL600 has a 5.5 liter V12 with two turbos plus a tune from Evotech which greatly increases the torque of the V12. The problem with the M275 V12 motor is the low redline, relatively poor heads, single over head cam design, 3 valve heads, and 5-speed transmission. Think of it as a tractor. Not to mention the 4800 pound curb weight which is almost 1000 pounds more than the E63 M6. ...Codemaster's Grid 2 video game will feature classic and new BMW M cars - Grid 2 BMW "M" cars trailer

A lot of us here on BimmerBoost take our cars for granted. They may not be Aventador's or Veyron's but for the vast majority of people in the world any M car, new or used, is simply a dream. Many of us as kids developed our love for cars and BMW's by playing video games. Well, the upcoming Grid 2 video will likely continue that trend for many kids (and well many of us as adults like to indulge in video games as well) around the world. ...Published on 05-04-2013 03:51 AM
This is almost starting to get a bit boring isn't it? A new year brings the same dominance we have seen from the R18 E-tron hybrid race cars. You may remember the R18 E-Tron took the pole for the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year and also became the first hybrid to win the race. With the second race of the FIA World Endurance Championship set to take place later today, the R18 E-Tron sure looks like the favorite again this year qualifying 1-2-3 for the FIA 6-hours at Spa. ...Published on 05-04-2013 01:13 AM
$214,105 is a lot of coin to drop on a CL-Class even it is an AMG. In this case, especially if it is an AMG considering a slightly used CL600 featuring a very similar M275 Twin Turbo V12 motor with the same W216 body style can be had for over $100,000 less. Is the CL65 AMG really worth over $200,000? No, and the depreciation in the model will reflect that just as it did with the previous generation but that has never stopped Mercedes-Benz or people from buying it. ...Published on 05-03-2013 08:23 AM
Now this is what you call fast. Congratulations to Budler Motorsports for improving on their record (previously a 7.69 elapsed time) with a 7.48@184 1/4 mile run. This vehicle is a 5-speed manual E30 with an S38 swap that is turbocharged. Horsepower is somewhere in the ~1300 range. The world's fastest E30 BMW? Yep. Also the world's fastest manual BMW? Unless anybody can mention another BMW with a manual gearbox that is faster this E30 would appear to have that record. ...Published on 05-03-2013 06:24 AM
Just a little over 30 days ago PorscheBoost posted an article showing the 991 Turbo basically undisguised completing its final testing. The car appeared ready for its debut and well here it is. Porsche decided to show the car off before its official "public" debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September of this year. What is interesting to note is that just like its 991 GT3 sibling the new 991 generation 911 Turbo has no manual option and is PDK only. ...Published on 05-03-2013 05:41 AM
Here is AWE-Tuning's exhaust system for the new Audi RS5 Coupe with the 4.2 FSI motor and a 7-speed dual clutch S-Tronic gearbox. The 4.2 FSI motor gets a small horsepower bump over the RS4 and now has an output of 450 horses. Unfortunately, it seems Audi has squeezed out basically everything they could from this motor while keeping it street legal and able to run pump fuel. The AWE exhaust system only gains 3 horsepower at all four wheels. ...Published on 05-03-2013 01:21 AM
Here is the Techart offering for the new Porsche 981 Cayman and Cayman S. This being their initial offering, it is fairly mild with add-on pieces designed to accentuate the stock lines. The front of the car gets a two-piece lip. The rear gets a diffuser and a fixed wing spoiler that looks pretty good. Techart also offers side-scoop inserts to change the look of the scoops slightly along with caps for the side mirrors. ...
