    • Warning to Mercedes Enthusiasts! Evosport hundreds of thousands in debt, not delivering parts

We have been sitting on this story for some time but enough is enough, something has to be said. We can not sit idly by while Evosport continues to take money from our users and not deliver parts. BenzBoost user JRCART is the latest person who Evosport has taken thousands from, in his case under the guise of delivering a Weistec supercharger for his CLK63 black series. We wish we could say he is the only person who has spent considerable money with Evosport only to not get what he paid for, but he isn't.

Many of you know JRCART as Jim. A nice guy who has a CLK63 Black Series who has done considerable business with Evosport. Well, months ago, he paid Evosport over $30,000 for his Weistec supercharger only for the car to sit with nothing done to it. As a matter of fact, JRCART told us Evosport used this time period to charge something around $20,000 to JRCART's insurance company for front end damage. Not only were we told they took tens of thousands and did not deliver the product they promised, they decided to make money off JRCART's insurance company for bodywork repair whose cost was inflated. UPDATE Jim finally got so fed up with the empty promises after months he had his car taken out of Evosport this past week and taken to Wesitec.

We called up Weistec to confirm this and they did confirm the car was now at their facility. We spoke to Steve at Weistec who was a complete professional. He was as politically correct as one can be and would not engage in any mudslinging and that is to be respected.

Now JRCART and his Weistec supercharger fiasco with Evosport is just one piece of this puzzle. We mentioned hundreds of thousands of dollars. Well, it turns out that a guy by the name of Jim Brady invested $300,000-$400,000 in Evosport. We believe these funds were used for Evosport's new facility and he is waiting on his return. Well, he is going to be waiting a heck of a long time and better get in line. On MBworld he posts as if nothing is wrong and who can blame him? He wants his money back and likely did not realize what he was getting himself into. This is a huge sum of money and we hope he gets it back.

In addition to the now hundreds of thousands Evosport owes, they owe Powerchip a large outstanding balance. This was confirmed in a discussion with Powerchip representatives who did confirm the outstanding balance but would not say how much. We have heard rumors ranging up to $100,000 but now you can all see why Powerchip has the pull with Evosport that they do.

Is this it? We wish, but it isn't. Evosport has an outstanding balance with Rotora. Wondering why you haven't received your Evosport rotors? Well, BimmerBoost user tgoss has been waiting months now for his rotors. He is going to be waiting indefinitely as we have been informed that Rotora supposedly suspended Evosport's account for an oustanding amount in the thousands. See a pattern here?

This has to be it, right? Well, it isn't. Since Evosport started MBworld and it was purchased by Internet Brands they have been able to keep this all silenced on the site they control, MBworld, as well as other internet brands sites such as 6speedonline. Don't believe us? Look at this poor guy who has been waiting since October of 2010 for his parts: Evosport Parts The discussion was locked to help preserve Evosport's image. We contacted the poster and he got us in touch with his friend and still until today in April 2011, he has not received all his parts.

Ok, that is all? Right? Can't be any more? Well, I referred my friend to Evosport who managed to talk him into a V10 twin turbo swap for his E92 M3. I tried to tell him that was a project that would have no end, but he did not listen. Evosport took the S65 V8 out of his M3 only to place it into Brads (one of Evosport's owners) father's race car. This car has been sitting in the shop collecting dust for years now with no end in sight but 10's of thousands taken.

We actually could go on as there are users who have not received headers, pulleys, rotors, etc. There are some prominent individuals we have been told about who did not get their Evosport parts so the list goes on. Everyone in the Mercedes community must be made aware of this as on MBworld all of these details are deleted or removed to protect Evosport who does control MBworld.

So is this all incredibly shady? Yes. But why? Why would they do this? Well, Evosport has moved into a very large new facility and it would seem they are funding it with their customers money. Now you must be saying, how can they survive this? Well, we don't know if they will. JRCART stated that when he picked up all his parts from Evosport Brad looked like he was about to cry. He must know the jig is up. If Jim Brady gets tired of sitting around he will have to go the legal route to get his money back. JRCART (Jim) is already getting his insurance company involved. If Powerchip and others all try to get their money at the same time Evosport is going to be in some major trouble. Our advice? Until all debts are repaid, stay away. That is unless you like waiting forever for parts from a company on very shaky ground.

Sorry to hear that bud, bunch of BS.

What amazes me is the lengths to which they will go to try and keep public information out of people's hands. Do they really think no one is watching???

What planet do these people live on?

Unbelievable. Who has time to do this?

I had nothing to do with it at least purposly, I have no issues with you but when I suspected it was you I probably should have PMed you rather than say "is that you Rob" or whatever I said. FYI I figured it out becuae your screen name and trap speed and ET 118mph and 11.8 on the 63 record list. I'm smarter than people give me credit for. Sorry if my post lead to you ban, that was never my intention man.

That 63 record list and all time quickest MB list was the best part of MB World, we need a list like that over here.

Also noticed the guy who reposted the original article on MBworld has been put on suspension there.

Seriously? This is their answer to issues? Just ban/delete/close until it goes away?

I recently tried to purchase certain parts from them (before this whole mess started) ... and they specifically told me not to PM them but to email them ... I found this VERY suspicious, they would not answer any questions via PM ... so I can verify this is true.

        GREAT JOB STICKY!!! ....

you have officially proved they have gone Ponzi Scheme ... now the legal evidence is building up at an astonishing rate ... I would be shocked if they don't disappear as a company by holiday season (if not by summer at this pace) ...

Well thank you, our primary goal is to protect the enthusiast, not vendors. We prefer vendors who can stand on their own merit and have and will continue to reject vendors who abuse the community.

That said, I don't think Evosport is going to disappear. What this all really hinges on is the potential investors. Will they invest or won't they invest. If they do not, we are talking hundreds of thousands which Brad's father can cover if necessary or Simon's family even. Split between them, they can weather the storm. If Evosport stalls in paying (like they have with Powerchip) I do not understand why vendors continue to do business with them.

I just don't know how this much debt accumulated this rapidly in basically the first quarter of 2011. If this is what they disclose to investors who knows what the real numbers really look like. Plus, this disclosed debt does not factor in investors so it could potentially easily rise to well over a million which still isn't back breaking.

The part I don't like is the continued order backlog and knowingly using that money to fund other aspects. The evidence sure is mounting and it will be interesting to watch this play out. At least here we can talk about it and it is irresponsible to not allow members in the Mercedes community to do so. It just further shows that there is something to hide. IB should be ashamed of themselves.

Agreed with everything and especially the portion in bold, the numbers just don't make sense, I get the feeling things are worse than they appear on paper for Evosport in this scandal?

I think Sticky's next official investigation should be how far into the IB infrastructure Evosport has attached themselves.

So just to be clear we're looking at an admitted $550K in debt, $250K in backlogged parts just from 2011, and 300K outstanding debt from Evosport?

Chances are whoever buys-in has ocean front real estate waiting for them in North Dakota.

Wake up Internet Brands, Evosport is dragging your forum and reputation through the mud, and the admins are making a mockery of the site and the membership.

Why not just let them continue to do so? It only makes this site and the reason for its existence all the more legitimate.

What a novel way to run a forum... certainly goes against the grain. Click here to enlarge

While I don't know Brad/Bob/Simon's financial situation, I'm inclined to agree - I don't think we're seeing evosport disappear from any of this, troubling as it may be.

I just don't know how this much debt accumulated this rapidly in basically the first quarter of 2011. Well, this is the (alleged) financial situation being reported in early 2011... doesn't mean that the company's fiscal health was peachy on 12/31/2010 you know. The $300k of short-term debt is probably a few sources, but mainly a revolving line of credit that's utilized when the company needs liquidity. They appear to have either tapped that out, or maybe their lender scaled back the max amount of the line, which can put a company in a pinch pretty quick.

As for the bolded-part above - bingo. Any investor looking to contribute $100k+ to buy B shares of evosport, would probably require seeing at least the last 3-5 years' worth of financials. Balance sheet, income statement, earnings reports, stock valuations, etc. To me, the posted documents are really just a "feeler" for prospective investors and, if you're both interested and meet the accredited investor standard, there's probably a much more intensive follow-up packet of info you obtain for your own due diligence. No one in their right mind (IMHO) would scratch a check based solely on that one sheet of paper with "approximate" unaudited figures for gross revenue, debt, corporate backlog, etc.

The part I don't like is the continued order backlog and knowingly using that money to fund other aspects. The evidence sure is mounting and it will be interesting to watch this play out.
Agreed 100%, on both parts. Thanks for providing an outlet for discussion of such matters.

You are absolutely correct. Sources who received this packets have stated there is a much more formal proposal on the way. This was mostly a "feeler" but interesting to see even when they are trying to portray themselves in a good light there is still an easy $300k of debt and a 1/4 million of orders pending.

It doesn't feel like very solid ground, does it?

Now that Evosport has admitted to their issues, I think that they should make a formal apology to Benzboost for basically saying that all the info posted about them on this site was BS. Just my thought on the topic.

You are quite correct, they should, but they would prefer to ban/delete than do the more difficult thing which is to take accountability and admit their mistakes. So, don't hold your breath.
