    • MRC Tuning C63 AMG M156 V8 ECU remap - +67 horsepower

UK tuner MRC Tuning is tackling a variety of platforms these days. Known mostly for their VW Group work (Audi, Porsche, VW, Skoda, Lamborghini, etc.) they are branching out into the Mercedes market as well. Their ECU tuner offers a gain of 67 horsepower over stock. The dyno provided is from a Cartec dynamometer which was set to read the crank values. We would have preferred to see the numbers at the wheels and at the crank including the losses as with their R8 V10 dynograph but at least they provided a graph unlike most European tuners.

No pricing, fuel, or export information was included which is disappointing. However, we are sure the M156 scene welcomes more options.

So what is so special about them?I've seen ECU remapping gains of 70-80 RWHP. Advice: Don't ever let a british tuner touch your M156

I don't think anything is necessarily special or that they are a premier option simply that they are an additional option.

Its not quantity. It is quality that matters. The article states:

" they provided a graph unlike most European tuners"

Like what tuners are we talking about. All the big tuners like Brabus, carlsson, MKB, Varth in Europe provide dyno graphs. They do not post them on the websites, but when you e-mail them and ask for them, they will certainly provide them for you.

That dyno graph above is not a proper Dyno graph. This is a cartec dyno. It is similar to a MAHA dyno. They claim to have gained +67HP. Well I just want to know, why did they not provide the full conditions of the runs. I'm talking about ambient temperature, Altitude, density, Intake temperature, relative humidity, oil temperature, air pressure, as they all make a BIG diffence in this type of dyno.

Pretty much all the time when I post some ECU tune or power upgrade from a Euro tuner there is no graph or performance numbers. They always list crank gains without proof. I'm not going to go sort through all the times it happens but very frequently.

Since these guys are in the UK they seem to be taking a little different approach than many German or European tuners.

Why is a Cartec dyno not a proper dyno?

He never said that cartec wasn't a proper dyno. He was talking about the graph that was provided not being proper. He has a good point

Ok so you are looking for details on the graph that were not included?

I think you misunderstood me. My apologies. I never meant that Cartec was not a proper dyno. It is actually a decent dyno. I used it myself. the issue was providing the parameters.

Yep, I see your point now and agree.
