Track performance comparison - Evo pits the Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster versus the Aston Martin DBS Volante

We understand why EVO compared these two although the SLS really is in a much higher performance class. On paper it seems close as the Aston with its 6.0 liter V12 has 510 horsepower but it also weighs about 250 pounds more. The SLS used in this comparison has 563 horses plus a quicker shifting dual clutch transmission. We would put our money on the SLS AMG in any performance comparison against the DBS Volante any time. Even one done in the wet as this one was.
These British reviews done when it is raining are almost pointless in our opinion as they do not show the cars at their best. These are not vehicles designed for maximum wet traction and doing comparisons in the wet when they can not put down their power effectively really detracts from what EVO is doing. British weather is what it is and the laptimes are not the best they could be but the Aston turns a 1:33.20 and the SLS turns a 1:32.30. So about 1 second faster for the SLS although Tiff's lap was hardly as good as it could be. Regardless, the SLS is clearly the quicker car.
