• AWE-Tuning 650S 997.1 Turbo upgrade package with GIAC software hits 594 at all four wheels on a Mustang dyno with stock turbos - $13k way too much?

Very nice results here from AWE-Tuning with their 650S upgrade package for the 997.1 Porsche 911 Turbo. The package consists of a larger throttle body, AWE-Tuning intercoolers, AWE-Tuning headers, AWE-Tuing muffler, and GIAC software. On 93 octane with just the muffler the 2007 911 turbo hit 473 horsepower at all four wheels on the AWE-Tuning Mustang dyno. That is a healthy baseline with a muffler so this is not a pessimistic Mustang dyno.

With the 650S package on 93 octane the output rose from 473 at all four wheels to 553 horsepower at all four wheels for a gain of 80 wheel horsepower on pump gas. That is not bad at all. On race gas with GIAC race software this rises to 594 wheel horsepower.

So, good bolt on power but AWE-Tuning wants $13,195.05 for this package (the extra 5 cents there being just kind of funny) which is kind of absurd for software and bolt ons. The 997.1 turbo is falling in price and there are far more cost effective options than this. Especially when the race software is another $400 on top of this and additional ECU programs are $200 each.

Good results, not the best value.
