• TPC Racing turbo kit 987.2 PDK Boxster S hits 507 rear wheel horsepower on a dynojet with meth injection and nitrous

      The TPC Racing turbo kit is a very popular upgrade for the Boxster and Cayman. It's really the main forced induction kit out there and offers large gains. Well, for one owner the standard power wasn't enough. With just the TPC turbo kit the 987.2 Boxster will put out in the 415 horsepower to the wheel range. With meth injection, TPC was able to boost output into the 470 wheel horsepower range. Then on top of this a 40 shot of nitrous was added.

      The result being 507 rear wheel horsepower from the 3.4 liter flat-6 engine. And that is on pump gas so clearly the meth injection is making quite a difference. 507 rear wheel horsepower is a huge increase from the factory ~26X wheel horsepower range.

        Speculation in the Cayman community has been that the TPC kit runs lean on the 987.2 (and the Cayman R specifically) thanks to the DFI setup. I wonder if this move to meth is a way to combat fueling issues as much as being a power adder. Regardless, great results from the 3.4 if it is durable.

        Never heard this before, VERY interesting. Don't we have any 987.2 TPC turbo equipped graphs to look at the air/fuel with though? And DI can run leaner than port.

        I've never seen any dyno sheets with the AFRs showing, which would definitely put a lot of minds at ease. It's surprising that TPC doesnt show any charts on their website...

        I should reiterate that this is merely a perception on one of the Cayman forums based on reports of trouble from members with their 987.2 cars.

        It's a valid question if there is no air/fuel to go on.

        i think lack of dyno sheets is due to the extremely small volume of customers that are getting this kit. Typical Porsche guys are so goddamn anal about everything having to do with their car.

        If it was me I'd want as much data as possible especially when adding a turbo to the newer direct injected Caymans.
