    • BimmerBoost 2013 Long Beach Grand Prix Coverage - BMW Motorsports wins ALMS GT class with 1-2 finish

Congratulations to BMW Motorsport on a 1-2 victory at the 2013 ALMS Long Beach Grand Prix with the new Z4 GTE's. This was the first year for BimmerBoost in attendance and suffice it to say covering the event will be a yearly occurrence. There was a little bit of everything to see from the ALMS GT and LMP cars, to Indy cars, to Formula Drift, to high end customer racing cars such as the R8 LMS vehicles. An added bonus was that the weather was just about as good as it gets with clear blue sunny 80 degree skies.

The race results are below along with photo coverage and a video of the Z4 GTE testing before hitting the track. A big thanks to @undercoverangie who was in attendance and generously donated her time to help cover the event. Day 1 of qualifying on 4/19 Friday and Day 2 of the ALMS GP today on 4/20 are pictured below.

      Bill Auberlin BMW Team RLL:

"Unbelievable. This thing was a rocket all day. We had some bad luck; that bad luck turned to good luck. Our pit strategy worked out perfect. Everybody here in Long Beach, Iím from Redondo Beach. Iím your neighbor and I love you guys. Iíve wanted to win this thing forever and never have. What a great day for BMW.Ē

Cool pics. The Z4s are doing better than expected, being so competitive so early with such a new car. I'll be at the ALMS at Laguna Seca next month- looking forward to it.

Well it's kind of cheating on BMW's part but the cars are badass.

Great coverage!!Gotta agree on the cheating part. Just read an interview with Corvette Sport chef Doug Fehan who said that BMW's car is far from being in line with the GTE competition and that it doesn't even resemble the street car. So BMW will probably get some more restrictions to even out the balance of power. Still great to see that BMW sticks to its engagement in US racing series!

German Magazine issue? Where do I get this?

SportAuto is the well known magazine which tests cars on the NŁrburgring Nordschleife.

If you can't get it in magazine stores in the US, you can create a german account in Itunes to download it for the Ipad.

Agreed, it's absolutely awesome. I could easily spend three days there all day from morning until night.
