    • Official - The 2014 BMW F82 BMW M4 design revealed early, pictures/photos

Many saw a leaked image make the rounds on the internet yesterday of a yellow M4. The image was not a fake and here it is, your 2014 F82 M4 revealed before its official public debut at the Pebble Beach Concourse d'Elegance this weekend. So how does the car look? In a word, great. Nothing over the top here BMW is playing it safe. The hood has the power dome that became a staple of the M3's design with the E46 M3 and has the carbon roof from the E92 although is seen here with M color stripes for a nice touch.

The sideskirts follow the E92 design. The front bumper takes inspiration from the 1M and is immediately recognizable as M. This brings us to the rear of the car where the taillights ditch the amber of the F32 4-Series (thankfully) and the car retains the quad exhaust setup the E46 M3 and E92 M3's brought us. Most importantly, the controversial 'bimmerrang' side vent received a redesign for the M version that looks much more like the E9X M setup. It just looks better.

The car is a solid design and looks great. Now the question becomes what the official specifications would be. A 450 horsepower S55 turbocharged inlnie-6 mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission is expected. If BMW can drop the weight significantly, that may be enough. We will have to wait and see.

      Enjoy the pictures.

FYI this car is going to crush the previous m3 and set the bar for the competition.....IMO at least
It has new competition now, with the new price range. Lets not forget the next C63 is getting a twin turbo V8.

        Same here.

The difference though is Porsche offers both. BMW made the decision for us. One company respects its enthusiasts, the other does not.

BMW isn't going to go backward in engineering. This new M4 will be better in all ways. period. Sticky you sound like the whining porsche guys when the new car came out. Now they're saying it's the best thing since sliced bread. It'll happen here too. You may have to complain about 500less RPM. That comes with the FI territory. I rev my EVO out to 8500 and guess what, it's useful maybe once every couple of months when i'm racing someone that can't rev that high. for a street car, it won't matter. when you start talking CSL or GTS then maybe it matters, but that's because those are purpose built race cars. stock M4s are not. you want a race car buy a GTS.
Wait and see what? Smash? Really? The M3 GTS will clown the F82 lap after lap. That car shows what an M car should really be. Lightweight, focused, all business.

Of course the F82 will have more power and perform better than the E92 M3 as it is a next generation model. Oh wow what a revelation a more powerful and newer car will be faster. The GTS shows the superiority of the E92 platform and motor on the track though. Which one is closer to what BMW actually races?

Less revs doesn't come with FI territory. What does the McLaren MP4-12C rev to?

Sticky - I understand the OP wasn't talking price but my point was why compare an expensive GT3 race car to what is a highly marketed "Daddy's" street car (M4)

BTW anyone else feel peeved like me about
the use of M... the new 235i will be M235i but it wont be an M.. cause there is an M2...
We aren't comparing the actual GT3 car itself we are comparing the philosophy behind the car which is not based on any set pricepoint.

Nobody is saying this car sucks. What is being said it sucks that traditional M values are dead.

8500RPM. I'd love to see a turbo 8k RPM BMW....

This car is REALLY good looking. 100-200lbs less than E9X will make me a believer.... I'm fine with the engine change

The MP4-12C also has a flat plane crank, so revs come a lot easier.

Exactly. It isn't forced induction by itself that determines the redline it's the engine design.

That's German Nascar and not based on anything resembling a street car. They won't be racing anything resembling the M4 in more than body. And it's a naturally aspirated V8 btw...

I just can't wait until the m4 is released and we can get some solid facts on he new M. Then we can truly see if it lives up to the M badge.

But i do agree and find it very annoying on how wins diluting the m brand by having m335i, m435i ect. They should scrap that $#@! and make sure they focus more on the actual m cars.

I agree completely... I honestly wish BMW or M Gmbh would read this, and "get it". The problem is, it's not the enthusiasts who make up the large percentage of their sales, instead it's people who care only about a name brand or instead about looking fast/cool. It's sad - but it's the way of the world. I have a feeling the next M will be good, but engine-wise, nothing like we have seen in the past (talking strictly about de-throttling and response here).

"Bmw is diluting the m brand". Not wins diluting...damn auto-correct.
