      Here is yet another chapter in the 335 versus M3 saga. In this video the 335 comes out on top although it takes a little while for the 6-speed manual car to overcome the DCT (dual clutch transmission) shift speed advantage. The M3 only has a Dinan tune which in all honesty is just about the weakest tune for an M3 money can buy. Along with no other supporting modifications, it is not surprising at all to see the 335 with full bolt ons and meth injection pull up top as it should.


      The video does a good job showing how much shift speed matters especially depending on starting speed. The lower the starting speed and the more gears the 335 needs to row, the more the advantage for the DCT M3. The 335 shows its greater horsepower once in the higher gears where less shifting and more time in gear takes place.

      The DCT M3 needs a more aggressive tune, pulley, scoops, and exhaust to alter this outcome. Regardless, enjoy the video below courtesy of BimmerBoost member @WNF_335i

        I thought the M3 held up a lot better than I first thought. As mentioned, DINAN doesn't make a very aggressive tune for this car, and against a FBO 335i, I was expecting the kill to be worse. He walked away - but did just that. Walked. DCT is pretty amazing.

        There is no doubt that the 335i w/ AT transmission is a faster than a 6MT 335i because of shift timing. The reason this race is so close is clearly because of the DCT Tranny on the M3 if the M3 was 6MT with just a flash it would be a way easier kill for the 335. People dont realise how much quicker a DCT M is compared to 6MT and always leave it out of the description when racing. Now a FBO DCT M3 would be a nice run against a FBO 335i w/ meth.

        And there used to be people who said they could outdrive a DCT... lulz.

        Did u do the level 10 tranny as well or just the vb and the tq converter?

        just VB & tq verter, i really believe the level 10 clutch packs are just a zf rebuild kit lol the tranny the upgrades went into had only 20k miles on it.
