    • Australia's most powerful production car takes on the CLA45 AMG - Holden HSV GTS versus CLA45 AMG drag race

Interesting comparison here between the most powerful production car Australia has to offer, the Holden HSV GTS with 577 horsepower, versus the new CLA45 AMG. On paper this is quite the mismatch as the CLA45 AMG M133 turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder motor has 'only' 355 horsepower. However, BenzBoost readers will know that the M133 AMG motor is slightly underrated. The CLA45 AMG also weighs a substantial 709 pounds less than the Holden HSV GTS despite featuring all wheel drive and a dual clutch transmission.

The HSV GTS is more traditional muscle car with rear wheel drive and a big V8. The engine is borrowed from the Camaro ZL1 so it is the same supercharged 6.2 liter LSA V8 we all know and love. The Holden does not have a fancy dual clutch but a 6-speed automatic.

American raw muscle versus German engineering, what wins? Well the more powerful car but it's closer than HSV GTS owners would like it to be. The CLA45 AMG is running high 12's at close to 110 miles per hour. That is impressive.

For as much power as it has and the size of the motor in the HSV GTS, a 12.1@118 is almost a letdown. The CLA45 AMG definitely is poised to be a giant a killer especially once the aftermarket for it heats up.

Exactly... not just the boost pressure. Plus there's no doubt the torque curve will be fattened down low. That doesn't mean you need to push more boost at peak.

50psi? my EVO was running 30psi and was hitting 515AWHP on a conservative tune on the STOCK MOTOR

it really depends on the size of the turbo. The Focus ST guys have a tiny turbo that is maxed out from the factory but are still gaining some decent HP. They've hit a wall though. Many are already getting turbo upgrades. I'd bet that AMG has maxed a small turbo out in order to keep lag down and still get to that 350HP mark on a 2.0. That will leave small gaines for the aftermarket until turbo upgrade is available. let's hope they didn't make the manifold as stupid as ford did on the ST.

LOL. That really isn't fair. FP Black turbos are just freaks of nature. Stock Frame, yes. Anything like stock, no. haha.

People are just thinking it is maxed out 26psi because they aren't used to it... I've seen stock 4g63s with hybrid stock turbo setups push 35psi all day on e85..

Yeah he held our AWD dyno record for a while! Sleeper setup and spooled decently quick. Now he is preparing 9,000RPM head.

I'd rather have the V8 in the C55. The C32 just kind of blew IMO.
