    • A lesson in BMW posing courtesy of StanceWorks - AKA all show and no go

StanceWorks showcases cars that are modified really by dropping them to the ground and then admiring how little wheel gap there is. There is a market for this certainly and many of the projects are absolutely beautiful accentuating classic designs that many today have forgotten about. This however is not one of those cars. This is a classic example of a BMW poser. Somebody who has a car that looks like something it is not and does not perform how it looks (or should).

The Liberty Walk widebody kit for the E92 M3 is a beautiful and very different take on the BMW M3 widebody. It was designed for the BMW E92 M3 and actually serves a functional purpose in allowing very wide rubber. Does it look good? Sure. Does it also have a purpose? Yes.

Does this car look good? Kind of. Does it have a purpose? No. It's a 335xi posing as an M3. Ok, maybe that is not the most egregious offense in the world but then the car is also on air bags. So essentially the owner has taken a suspension setup designed to handle well and thrown it in the garbage to have absolutely idiotic looking camber and 'stance.'

Illustration of what is not a sexy look that does not belong on a German car:

Ok, fine, so the guy is going all show. But then what the hell is the roll cage for? In case the wheels fall off and the car rolls? What does he need that harness for? This car is not going to see any sort of track. The car barely looks stable parked.

This kit and build will be celebrated on StanceWorks no doubt. It will be mocked and ridiculed on BimmerBoost. Taking a 3-Series, dropping it, then photoshopping the hell out of pictures is not sophisticated car modification. This is tacky modding hiding under an artsy guise. StanceWorks certainly represents an interesting car modding culture that is different and can be respected but this particular build is not one to be respected. This build takes the Ultimate Driving Machine and turns it into BMW rice and the Ultimate Poser Machine. It also illustrates the difference between the GermanBoost network and StanceWorks perfectly.

Actually I take that back...the car is probably capable of breaking into 10's which means it requires a full cage at the track... @Terry@BMS and @VargasTurboTech and chime in as the car apparently has Vargas S2B2's and was completed and tuned in time for SEMA. Air Bags are completely fine for a straight line car, so honestly at this point the only thing I don't like about the car are the tires are too small...other than that, i really like it, the kit is awesome (M3 hood over does the LB kit, 335i hood keeps it looking cleaner) great car, really sweet build.

Yeah, that's another point to make...this car is by Bag Riders Crew...they did the car...NOT STANCE WORKS. Sorry but Sticky you kinda F'ed this up...your opinion is your opinion, but this car is absolutely a straight line competitor, looks awesome, and the air bags and wheels/tires which are again only thing I don't like are done because a shop that build bagged cars wanted to do a performance car build...and they chose a great car...next time acquire all info and share it when you headline something...thanks

I know who the car is by it states that in the Facebook post. The point was StanceWorks promotion of it that was questioned as this not something to be promoted IMO. It highlights the difference between the culture at StanceWorks and BimmerBoost. I'm surprised you didn't understand that as that is the thought the article concludes with.

Just sayin, they've clearly addressed performance as well, not like they threw in a cage on a stock 335i...lol

You're really trying this hard eh?

So you're telling me those rims, bags, and body kit, were chosen for on the dragstrip performance? Are you serious right now?

Please stop deluding yourself right now. It's almost as laughable as this car.

LOL clearly not the "only point" you were making...you pretty much shredded anything on the car, for what reason? The thread is titled a "lesson in BMW posing" yet you loved this look not too long ago posting the LB kit and how you were thinking about going with it....the look of the car is backed up by performance under the hood...it's bagged with that set of wheels and tired (easily swapped out at the track) because of the shop that built it...and two vendors were involved with the performance from this forum...so NO I do not see how your point in all of this was to show difference in Stance Works and Bimmerboost when Stance Works simply provided a body kit for a BIMMER, and a body kit that YOU LOVED IN THE PAST?

No, the car was clearly done for show overall, but they also invested and took care of the performance side as well which you seemed to have skipped over. Air bags bad at the strip? Not necessarily....wheels and tires easily swapped...this car is more than capable of solid numbers at the strip...no doubt about it, I'm not "trying" at all, actually I had to try very little my simply reading the original article Stance Works posted instead of your misleading article...

The car has heavy ass wheels and airbags, and a front splitter. I'm the one who negged you, probably not the greatest idea to neg rep lol. but in all honesty, that car is setup like garbage

No I didn't skip over it. I don't see a car prepped for the level of performance that makes the cage necessary. It's clearly there for show just like everything else. Like you need wide rear rubber on what is an xi to begin with right?

Are there dyno numbers or timeslips posted or just pictures of the car standing still?

Negged me? Didn't notice if you did...no notification...but air bags aren't going to add much weight, heavy wheels? Do you know the weight for fact? Not like it matters as they are clearly a show set of wheels and tires, nothing wrong with that, I don't use the same wheels and tires I drive around on at the track.....front splitter? And? How many guys have a front splitter or spoiler on their car? And they track it how often?

Would you care to share the performance numbers for this car please? Because the owner seems to prefer showing it standing still.

It's not a performance build. Stop with this nonsense.

Hey, not saying I would bag my bimmer, and I sure as hell wouldn't put those wheels and tires on it, but other than that the car looks great. I'm just disappointed that you didn't list all of the information on the car in your article for people to make their own opinions, instead you posted what you wanted and skewed it to try and trash up a car that is really not a bad concept at all. That's all I'm saying...

Take out the airbags for a nice KW coilover set, throw some track wheels and tires on it and you've got a pretty badass ride.

Sure, but that's the only point I'm making is Sticky's original post makes one think the car is bone stock under the hood when it clearly is not. Who's to say they won't track it and dyno it? They just finish it in time for SEMA which was? Oh yeah...this week...

I agree that for a sema car its not bad. I bet there are alot of garbage modded cars there.

What do you mean all the information? The pictures clearly show what I wrote is accurate. Nothing is skewed the car is exactly as stated. It isn't setup for performance. It looks confused.

Yes, the airbags should be taken out. So now you're saying the airbags should be ditched and making a very quick turn. Haha, get it? Because you would need a better suspension setup if you actually intend to turn and not just sit in parking lots.

        It isn't a badass ride. It's a joke.
