    • An interview with CP-E (Custom Performance Engineering) regarding their N54 turbo upgrade kit at SEMA 2013

Yes it is still coming and here is the proof. What you will see below are pictures and a discussion about the CP-E (Custom Performance Engineering) BMW N54 twin turbo upgrade kit. Pricing has not yet been set hence why the rampant speculation on the forums regarding this upgrade was unwarranted. What can be said is this kit will cost over $10k. How much over $10k is up in the air but that figure will also depend on options.

An option for example is a port injection supplemental fuel system. The fuel system is not included with the kit. Tuning will be handled by COBB although other tuning options will come later for this setup. How much power this makes will be limited by supporting mods and things such as the fuel system. N54 aficionados already know what the stock fuel system can support so if one wants more power than what the stock fuel system supports which the turbos can support the fuel system option will be needed.

The current expected ETA of completion is by January, 2014. For further details please listen to the interview video below.

      Please note
      :

      • This was an impromptu interview. There was no advanced notice and it was treated as an on the fly discussion.
      • CP-E will eventually release a standalone tuning solution but intends to accommodate all tuning solutions including those from BMS @Terry@BMS

When I heard him say that I was ready for a counterargument haha.

It seemed like he was referring more to the cars place in the market and the ease of modding the platform provides, not the technical aspects of the engine itself.

Hm, do they only offer the GT2560R turbos for the BMW application? I guess twin GTX3582R would blow the engine in no time Click here to enlarge

Good interview! This kit looks well done and should really set the bar for upgraded turbos on the n54. It won't be the cheapest but if they can pull off the oem fitment/reliability,they will have a winner. The upgraded fuel system is very interesting... Congrats to CPe for pushing the n54 platform forward

        that's what i got

he didn't say 'it's the new 2jz'.. to me, he said the N54 powered cars are slotting into the enthusiast market/mindset like the JZA80 and R32-R34 did, with ease and capability of modifications as a whole package.

Agreed... I think that's why many people refer to it as the new 2jz, because it's a factory turbo motor that can be modded to double the hp without swapping internals

That's what I've been thinking all along. It isn't in the same class as the 2JZ because it has open deck, DI, aluminum block etc.... but as far as power goes, 7xx whp on STOCK INTERNALS is legendary. It's cheap horsepower and I think that's why it's so popular.

FWIW, i'm pretty sure the "standalone" they are referring to is one that's been discussed before... a while back.

Damn, I was really hoping they'd offer an upgraded HPFP solution and not go the PI route.

Regardless, props for them for sticking with the platform all this time and not giving up like AMS.

Btw, can anyone confirm whether that's the current CP-E FMIC on the kit?

Looks professional. So, is this kit the closest to production ready twin kit we've seen? It will be nice to see how Vargas will be arranging the turbos and intakes when he'll get to this level. Hopefully soon! Click here to enlarge

Gorgeous kit there, and no doubt cost a fortune to develop. Cp-E is an amazing company and it would be awesome to have all the developmental resources they have, this would've been a very fun (and frustrating lol) project to work on having all of that. Kudos to cp-e for building what appears to be a masterpiece N54 turbo kit that will install/fit well and that's entirely complete.
