    • A BMW X1 as a serious performance machine? Believe it, BimmerBoost member runs 12.1@111 in his X1 xDrive35i

The world's quickest and fastest BMW X1? That would be BimmerBoost member paradoxical3 with his BMS JB4 tuned N55 X1 xDrive35i. With a JB4 G5 ISO, 40% E85/93 octane mix, BMS intake, BMW downpipe, and a Wagner intercooler he managed a very impressive 12.137@111.20 in the 1/4 mile. That's quicker than a stock BMW X5M/X6M at a fraction of the cost with just bolt on modifications to put the performance into perspective.

BimmerBoost can not find a 1/4 mile timeslip anywhere with a quicker result from an all wheel drive N55 based BMW so this appears to be not only have the X1 overall record but the N55 xDrive record as well. Congratulations to @paradoxical3 for his results on the strip and BimmerBoost looks forward to seeing him break into the 11's which are just a tick away.

Wow, this is really cool to see. Kinda funny to watch an x1 roll 30 car lengths on an svt cobra. lol.

I just got a 2014 X3 Msport with n20 for my wife, I've kinda thought about at least tuning it. Has anyone tried much with the n20 x series yet? Just curious if its worth it.

So the question is, how do I get in 11's? Here's the only log I have from that day - this was in a run where I had wheelspin and the transmission double shifted right through 2nd, so ignore the 2nd gear parts of the log.

From what I can see, my timing is pretty much perfect. So I'm not sure where to go next - I'm not sure if running meth will even give me gains.

Right now, I am debating removing the two midcats in the midpipe. But I think that probably is only worth 5-10whp.

Wheels and tires weigh 54 and 52lbs each, so by moving to Apex 18in and Michelin PSS I could save about 40lbs+ rotating weight. That might be more effective than the midpipe and even meth.

I think switching to lighter wheels and tires should be something you look at. Forty pounds rotating weight is significant. The tires should help in the traction department too.

Running meth will cool the charge air, so you will be able to fit more O2 molecules in the cylinder because the charge will be denser. More O2 means more fuel = bigger boom. You may be able to get more timing advance than what you have now as well from the cooling effect of the meth. Just because your DME is not pulling any timing, does not mean you are at MBT throughout the RPM range.

I would do the wheels but I wouldn't get Mich PSS if you paid me to use them... may be better suited for the x1 than my coupe but imo they are floaty , soft sidewalls, and overall lack the performance of a serious tire... and anything under 50 degrees they are rocks and spin like crazy....

i would take Continental DWS' over them every day of the year... and i bet they hook better...

PSS are very good at wet traction, outside of that its like buying a g wagon .... i know a lot of these sports cars come with them but thats not to say another tire isnt better...

if you look around the forum youll see more of what i am saying from more track oriented people...

But with AWD and a little more weight they may feel/hook/perform better on your car...

i have PSS all around on my car and prior to them had DWS' and they were superior in every regard. And they will rip you through the snow without any sweat.

with removing the midpipe you will bring on more of a fuel/exhaust smell in your cabin which is something i plan to not deal with even with the RBs on.... I may look into a dump similar to what Terry has and move the cats back a bit though for when i want to extract all the power...

i think the n55 is a nicer sounding engine but no cats on the n54 kinda sounds like $#@! too... i think the coolest part of your car is how stealthy it is... keep it quite!! I would love to go hunting in your car, its prob a blast...

look ok into the new Michelin A/S 3 they are the new tires that are dominating the UHP AS tire scene and have been run heads up against the dws many times and have come out on top every time in regards to steering feel, sidewall, grip, rain traction etc the only thing that hasn't been tested is snow since they came out in July so that's still open. I run nt 05's on my c63 during spring/summer and these are my new fall/winter tires and they are amazing.

I'm more interested in an extreme performance tire like maybe the Direzza II since I plan on tracking a few times. The only reason I was considering the PSS was because I'm a bit worried about wet traction with the Direzza II or BFG Rivals, but I guess with AWD it won't be too bad. Just worried about hydroplaning on the highway.

grab r888's or r01 or whatever that other tire is that shares the same compound than. R888's are actually pretty good on wet pavement, and ra1's are supposed to be better in the rain.

I had the nt05's and they were awesome ! Great straight line traction and about 95% the handling capabilities of the Direzzas. Ive heard good things about the new AD08 R's check them out.

Has the car been tuned on the dyno, i.e Protuned by someone capable?

If it hasn't, that's all you need to do to get into the 11's. Running base maps is not acceptable in my book unless I plan on changing the car again.

You can't protune a late model N55 engine yet, unfortunately. We are all waiting on Cobb at this point.
