    • Honoring a fellow car enthusiast and a reminder how quickly it can all end- Paul Walker killed in a wreck

Those who visit this site know who Paul Walker is and have likely seen the Fast and the Furious movies. The 40 year old Walker died in a tragic accident when the Carrera GT he was the passenger in lost control and slammed into a tree at a high rate of speed. The car caught fire and as the pictures show below there was not much left of the car or those inside. Paul is survived by his 15 year old daughter Meadow.

This website is for performance automotive enthusiasts and does not make attempts to delve into celebrity and TMZ fueled culture but this is different. Yes, Paul Walker was an actor in a well known series of automotive movies that we often make fun of here. Not because we don't like them but actually because we like to them to such a level as enthusiasts we understand how Hollywood fudges with the reality of the automotive world for the purpose of entertainment.

The thing is, Paul Walker was not just some guy playing a guy into cars. He was a true automotive enthusiast with a passion for the topic. He had a slew of modified cars one of which was a supercharged BMW E92 M3 built for track duty by the same company working on my car. I saw his vehicle many times when I would go check the status of my own M3 and I always in the back of mind thought I would run into him at some point down the line. This was not some random rich celebrity isolated in a bubble but there was a very real world automotive enthusiasm to him that at least for me had tangible aspects.

Speaking of his M3 he raced it as part of the AE Performance team and one of those team members was the driver of the Carrera GT. Getting lost in the tragedy is that two people lost their lives here. Roger Rodas was the driver and obviously we do not know exactly what happened other than he clearly lost control of the vehicle. The Carrera GT is considered a high level drivers car and it definitely can bite you if you push further than you should. No matter how good of a driver you are (or think you are) this accident reminds us it can happen to anyone.

This network wishes to pay its respects to both men and to their families who obviously are grieving. We consider ourselves car guys and so we honor our fallen fellow enthusiasts and hope another article like this never needs to be written. Those reading need to remember there are very real consequences to actions in high powered cars. Those consequences are often elevated when on public streets.

Mr. Walker, you were participating in a charity event and participated in several humanitarian aid efforts. You used your fame and fortune to help others which is what made you different. Being an avid car enthusiast and contributing to the automotive community was just a cherry on top. You have had a greater impact on worldwide car culture than any of us can ever hope to even approach.

      You will be missed.

Anyone see the parallels here between this sad happening and James Dean's death in a similar car of that era? History repeats itself.

Yeah maybe there were going 45 when the left the road. I would imagine hitting a post sideways at 45 would do that kind of damage. Lots of speculation. I am curious to see what the find out, if anything.

I wish that was the case, because that would mean i actually got a chance to use the ipad. Wife and kid took that $#@! years ago, lol. Now the only time its unoccupied is when the battery is dead, so im just the one that charges it and fixes it when things no longer work...

I agree with you but remember how the CGT is constructed. It's made to split apart to protect the drivers cell. Perhaps hitting a light pole or tree sideways would have caused it to break in half (as designed) but there just seems to be so much more ancillary damage which leads me to believe they were going well over 45mph.
As far as the steering leak, that's very possible...but at the front of the car, the leak would have to contact something VERY hot to cause an explosion like that, and the engine and exhaust are in the rear and presumably not attached at this point.

My thought is the fuel cell, since it's in between the driver and passenger, ruptured and that is what caused the explosion. Because it didn't just crash and then catch on fire, you can see from that video that when it impacted and came to a stop, it literally exploded like a bomb. Really too bad because if they only hit initially going 50 or so mph, they were probably conscious when it blew up. So sad...RIP.

ya your right.... I was on google earth checking out the path they took and hate to admit it but it looks like she got a little ass happy around the bend.

Fuel cell is something I hadn't thought of...makes sense..

Have you guys seen this? I refuse to copy it over because it's horrible, but you can look at the link.

        http://modernwomandigest.com/five-re...l-walker-dead/

Here's her Facebook she made after she started getting death/rape threats

        https://www.facebook.com/pages/Adora...36396773128435

And here's a great comment from a random person:

GLuke MaynardFirst of all, I never liked the Fast and Furious movies and I don't think Paul Walker was a fantastic actor. But he was a reasonably good human being who went to work every day. I don't care about his movies and I think of him as a celebrity. I just think of him as the very well-paid working man, father, friend and human being whose death you delighted in.

Would you have delighted in it in the same way, I wonder, if he'd been a human being instead of a celebrity to you? If you'd been at the scene, instead of reading about it in the tabloids--if you'd heard him screaming, pinned in the wreckage as the fire started and he burned alive, smelt his flesh sizzle as he went from being the father of a 15-year-old girl to so much burned corpse? Would it still have been worth a laugh to you?

I guess it's different when somebody's Famous. Well, now you're Famous too, it seems. Good luck with that.

Now that you're Famous for delighting in the death of a decent human being just because he was Famous, there's an irony to all the vicious, harassing, bullying, abusive, maybe even criminal threats and insults you're getting and will keep getting for the rest of your career. Contrary to what the vigilante mob seems to think, you *don't* deserve to be the victim of horrible crimes. You don't deserve to be bullied, or abused. But that's exactly what is now going to happen. There are millions of total strangers who know nothing about you, yet despise you, not for shallow things like your looks or where you're from, but for the essential character behind what you think and say. That's a much more personal hatred than most celebrities get, and yet these people are going out of their way to say terrible things about you and to you, and I think it's worth thinking long and hard about why that is.

You can pass the buck and deflect the soul-searching onto them, if you're stubborn enough. You can say that idiots on the Internet do this because they have nothing better to do than get their thrills kicking somebody down a peg. They're awful people for wishing death and rape on you. And yes, they are. All of those things are true. But why you? Why is it that they've fallen on you like a pack of Internet piranha, when they leave thousands of other bloggers like you perfectly well alone?

I venture that what you're experiencing now, and what you're responding to so smugly as a defense mechanism to quiet your own insecurity, is the natural consequence of your words. Free speech covers the freedom to say whatever you want or feel you should without fear of breaking the law, or being a criminal for how you think. But free speech does not mean your words are not hurtful, or that they have not done damage to the world and the public. It does not mean that you are free of consequences when uttering them.

I'm sorry, in a limited and shallow way, for what you must be suffering. It is not fair, and it is not just. But it's a natural and expected consequence. When a child touches a hot stove burner and gets a terrible burn, that isn't "fair" in any sense. It isn't just. But it is what naturally happens when someone who doesn't know better chooses to do something that carries a natural consequence.

Be smug if you like. Be sarcastic and dismissive and disrespectful to everyone who takes a shot at you. That's a good coping mechanism, and most of the death-wishers on here certainly deserve no better. But you've been tremendously unkind, with absolutely no provocation, to a well-loved stranger, his family, and his friends, and you've done it in a very public forum. It was immensely disrespectful, tactless, unkind, inhumane, and the collective outrage you've provoked should suggest you owe Mr. Walker's family and friends (and yes, even his arms-length fans) an enormous apology for your cruelty. That you are now experiencing the same cruelty back, in exponentially greater volumes, does not absolve you of that obligation as a human being. Your suffering does not alleviate the suffering you caused--only provides cheap thrills and a cheap laugh for those who mistakenly believe they're morally justified in giving you a taste of your own medicine.

There is no fairness, no moral justification, in any of that. No one should hope you die. No one should hope you're assaulted, or have horrible things happen to you. No one should be calling you filthy names that disrespect not only you, but women everywhere. No one deserves to die for hurting people with their stupid words. On the other hand, you're now getting hurt by the stupid words of others, and that's likely to continue for a long time.

Please don't hurt yourself; don't give these trolls the satisfaction. I hope none of the ill wishes in their vicious, monstrous and hurtful writing ever comes to pass. But I hope their writing itself keeps on coming--that in itself, no more and no less, seems a balanced consequence to the monstrous and hurtful words of your own.

This $#@! deserves everything she is getting and then some:

        5. This proves that rich douchebags die young too.
You know the old saying, “only the good die young?” Well, now we have proof that this saying isn’t entirely true after all! Money can’t buy you happiness, and it apparently can’t buy you immortality either. Perhaps this tragedy will teach children that being rich and famous isn’t a free ticket to thinking you’re above the law and can get away with whatever you want, as the 2005 red Porsche Carrera GT taught Walker and the friend who was driving it.
These are but a few reasons why I’m glad Paul Walker is dead. What are yours?

Whoa - what a biatch... That wouldn't be called for even in the extreme cases - if your opinion is that "it is better off now that X is dead" - it's best left to yourself. What was the point of that? What did she possibly expect, a Pulitzer? Seriously - people are ridiculous sometimes.

Honestly, I'm still bummed out about the whole thing even after few days. RIP Paul Walker. In my view Fast and Furious films put the tuning world on the map, and all the sudden Supras became more sought after and a lot more tuning companies popped up. Back in Pre Fast and Furious tuning was way more expensive / rare and was out of reach for most of us including me. Even performance parts for older cars like 87 turbo supra were crazy expensive compared to options today.

As for that "woman" that posted that stupid article, she just doesn't know what she has done, as you can no longer hide behind your computer and now you are a "celebrity" or should I say on "most wanted" list. Imagine if someone like Anonymous take spin on this and publishes all of her personal info online, not sure if anyone can help her then. Her only choice now is an apology and a very public one and even that will not deter crazy people.

        Must have already happened: http://nationalreport.net/fans-fast-...le-goes-viral/

Trillions and bazillions of death threats were received by feminist blogger Adora Bull after she released an article entitled “5 Reasons Why I’m Glad Paul Walker is Dead“. She was forced into hiding and is reported to be on suicide watch after her phone number and address were leaked online.

“I woke up in the middle of the night and there were a dozen guys in my parking lot just pounding my car to smithereens”, Adora reported from an undisclosed location. “I hastily packed a few essentials and phoned the police. The men managed to disperse before the police arrived so I had them take me to a relatives house where I have been ever since. I don’t imagine I will be returning to my home anytime in the near future. In fact, I am currently making arrangements to relocate to a different city until all these ridiculous cretins calm down. I mean, they didn’t even care about this guy until he died. Really, it’s just ridiculous. My car is completely destroyed because people have the poor taste to worship some of the worst movies ever made. I mean, whatever.”

Hundreds of fans have vowed to hunt down Ms. Bull and make her pay for her flippant comments in regards to their dearly departed hero. “They want me to get assaulted, murdered, tortured in every manner imaginable. Watch my entire family get eviscerated to death before I’m raped to death… Bla, bla, bla, ad nauseam. You name it. They said they are going to do it to me. Last I checked this was America folks, and this thing called freedom of speech. You don’t have to like my opinions just like I don’t have to like the movies you so desperately worship. Take a brick, build a bridge and get over it.”

We’re told that the FBI are currently looking into some of the threats aimed at Adora Bull and are taking the situation with the utmost seriousness. Modern Woman Digest has been assisting law enforcement officials by forwarding all of the IP addresses of commentators to the police.

We asked Adora what she planned to do about her car. “I have already obtained a new vehicle. In fact, those schmucks sort of did me a favor since I have insurance that will replace my car in the event something like this happens. I got a newer nicer model now, very luxurious”, She giggles, “I would love to invite them to burn down my house as well. I have been considering getting an updated condo for some time.”

While Adora Bull is still said to be on suicide watch she seems to be weathering this stint of disgruntlement with class and style. Despite having kindled so much vitriol and rage amongst die hard fans of the Fast and Furious series, Ms. Bull claims that it’s not derailing her from her work and she plans to release much more content in the future.
