    • Stock 2014 Porsche 991 Turbo S 1/4 mile run - 10.63@128

Mid 10 second car stock? That looks to be exactly what the Porsche 991 Turbo is capable of and keep in mind this is not even the more powerful 991 Turbo S. An owner in Bahrain took delivery of his 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and wasted no time getting to the drag strip. So how did it do? How about 10.63@128 miles per hour (206 kilometers per hour) with an absolutely absurd 1.51 60 foot. This car is launching out of the hole hard!

EDITED: This is a Turbo S, not a standard 991 Turbo.

Running 10.6 with a 128.4 trap speed certainly shows that and the launch control is clearly aggressively set. The PDK gearbox is also showing excellent efficiency.

Yep, it's fast right off the showroom floor. The 991 Turbo S should likely be capable of roughly the 10.3 range at just about 130 miles per hour. The 991 Turbo with a tune is likely a much better value though and also likely a 9 second car.

It's a minimal improvement over the 997 really. Porsche just adds a tiny bit of power each iteration. It also helps this is a bit lighter.

I wouldn't kick it out of my garage.

10.6 non S. 10.3 S maybe? Man oh man Corvette VS porsche wars I think Porsche will win. Good luck to GM making a mid 10 second ZR1 Corvette. Good luck to them!

Problem for them won't be making the power but putting it down on street tires. From a roll I wouldn't bet against the ZR1 although if they gave it turbos then we're talking.

Usually 911 Turbo S will be released 2 years before end of model change.

Not to take anything away from this run, but according to the badging the car is a 991 turbo S not base.

You damned detective. Ok, you win. I'll edit. After my nap. I've been up since 1 AM because of that stupid M3/M4 leak so I think I earned a break.

Damn. Not as quick as I would have thought, but there's a million variables. Some guys have yet to break into the 11s in their M5s. I still think these things should be good for 10.5s, maybe even just under in the right conditions and with a good driver.

Btw...how insane is it that we are sitting here talking about an AWD GT car with every luxury conceivable that can cut mid 10s in the quarter, top 200 by quite a bit, and lap a track quicker than some race cars, and we're disappointed with it? I'm so happy to be alive at this time.

I don't think anybody is disappointed. I also don't consider the 911 Turbo a GT. A Mercedes SL is a GT.

Lol maybe it was just me then. It is a bit of a stretch to call it a GT...although I wonder what the rear seat room is like in a 991. Last time I sat in the rear seat of a 911 it was a '79 SC...and that was appalling. I wonder if its serviceable now at least. Probably not. Either way its an amazing car.

If you have no legs you can definitely sit in the back of a 911.
