    • BMS E82 135i FFTEC N54 Single Turbo Kit Dyno Testing - 585 wheel horsepower

Been racking up miles on the 135i and fixing little things. And finally had a chance to get to the dyno today for some baseline testing. As I've mentioned I've been VERY pleased with the FFTEC twin scroll top mount 5862 turbocharger kit. On road performance and spool is much better than any other combinations I've driven.

      Testing details:

2008 135i Steptronic (original trans, for now)
JB4 single turbo firmware & supporting flash
FFTEC 5862 top mount single turbo
BigTom intercooler, BMS OCC, BMS stat, etc
Walbro 255 inline fuel pump mod
Factory exhaust system (did not bother to open cutout)
~E30 mix for for 17psi runs. For 20psi+ runs enabled meth kit for fueling using a single CM10 nozzle.

      Notes:
      1) Was not going after any power records so left the tuning very conservative all around. At the same boost levels there is easily another 15hp in this setup with more advance. And no reason this turbo can't be cranked up to 28psi when the trans is ready.
      2) It made a lot more power than I was expecting. It's basically on pace with the 6466 at these lower boost levels only with much better spool.
      3) If the trans would shift this car would be seriously quick. I'll get to work on that ASAP.

Video of one of the 23psi runs:

Level 10 is basically a replacement of OEM parts and a solution for those who pushed their stock trans too far and get it working again. It isn't an 'upgrade' as much as a way to get a broken transmission working again without going through BMW.

Pissed me off actually cause I paid $1300 plus shipping for a low mileage working order transmission just to send them after they told me it was a go, then one week after I get the trans and am ready to send out I ask if they signed the contract yet to send it back to me and got no reply except to hold off on shipping the trans...WTF? Not professional at all IMO and I won't ever bother with them again. It was a joke trying to communicate with them...and they speak the same $#@!ing language?

I'm in talks with a company from Australia and another from Munich Germany. So far they have said that going from 450nm to 600nm which isn't a huge bump at all but it's something. They both said not expensive at all. So more to come, of course we need something a lot higher than that but its a start.

? 600NM is like 442ft lbs of TQ. These things easily do that now in their sleep, wouldn't really call that a start.

the stock trans + Alpina flash can handle +530 rwtq, if someone can make it handle +650 rwtq that would be more than enough & 3500 stall

I dunno about more than enough, but it would be a start and more usable then. I'd rather see something 700+ wtq knowing that at 650wtq you can launch the $#@! out of it

More than a bit, if it was an american company I feel things would have been different, as in I'd at least be raising hell to make them pay for a now useless transmission sitting in my garage. That's what I get for sticking my neck out for the community I guess....but hopefully it will still come in use.

They have a pretty good rep, I bet it was exactly what happened with my stage 3 kit at 034, the guy I was working with was super gung ho on the project and promised the world. But once I got it there and it was ran up the flag pole I think he got the ole, You said we were going to do what?? and it sat around until he finally told me they had no time to get it done. I do not think Dodson as a whole would act like that.

If I were you guys I'd swap a manual in and call it a day... Take a driving course and get skilled at a manual, it's very rewarding.

That said I don't regret any second of changing from a manual to the dct. It's a amazing trans that honestly seems like it's above the BMW m3 class / pay grade.

lol the most skilled pro drivers can't keep up with an AT, I know how to drive a manual, but chose not to buy one for a reason. I'm not worried, I'll figure something out.

Yeah, I know they have a great rep on other platforms and huge in the GTR world, which is what gave me confidence going in, I think they just would rather do DCT stuff since at about the same time they posted on here looking for a DCT trans tester

lol, ummm yeah, sorry but it is now. If you don't believe so you are living in the past. There was a time when buying a manual meant better performance with a good driver behind the wheel. That's just not the case anymore. Not on mustangs, corvette's, especially not on our platform of the N54, and certainly not on any supercar now. 6AT v 6MT races are a joke...

LOL, you're delusional. How is it better? DCT VS MT yes, a regular auto tranny. Not in a million years.

What are you smoking son? I'm not the one that's delusional...I don't even know what to say to you if you don't understand how much faster the 6AT is than the 6MT...even when tuning is completely figured out on the 6MT to help hold boost and timing between shifts it will never compete besides simply being able to hold more power with upgrades....for now

If you are talking drag or roll racing a proper AT will always reign supreme over EVERYTHING. End of story.

What is a proper AT? stock or an actual aftermarket 4speed? If its and aftermarket Auto it does not count.

I'll be waiting and eating my popcorn when that happens. DCT yes, regular auto I don't see that happening. So what about the modded M6 with SMG I raced that I won to while I was on regular pump gas? How is that superior?
