There are several runs here so let's analyze them one by one.
Run 1 - ESS VT3 supercharged M3 ~690 whp
The Porsche gets a bit of a jump and due to its all wheel drive traction advantage takes an early lead. It holds off the VT3 through the run although it starts inching back. Regardless, this M3 despite being a built motor car only managed 135 in the 1/4 mile which a GIAC tuned 997.2 Turbo S is also capable of. The top end advantage goes to the M3 but the runs are not long enough for it to show.
Run 2 - Rematch with the VT3 M3
Closer start this time between the two cars and the 911 turbo takes just under a car length lead. The VT3 starts to pull up top again able to edge enough to take the win this time around. This is pretty much exactly how it should go down. The longer the race the more it favors the M3 with the shorter the race favoring the 911 Turbo.
Run 3 - Bolt on tuned GTR with ~600 whp
The 911 turbo again gets a jump. Seems to be a bit of a pattern. It opens up a lead that the GTR can not close by the end of the run where it is inching back in. It definitely has more power but loses due to the start.
Run 4- MP4-12C Spyder
The Spyder is a little heavier than the coupe but it really is a marginal difference. Jump from the 911 Turbo yet again and the MP4-12C does not not have enough top end to close the gap.
Run 5 - 996 Turbo MT with bolt ons and GIAC tune ~500 whp
No contest. Eaten alive.
Run 6 - 6MT 997.1 Turbo with ~600 whp
Another jump but it does not matter. PDK wins this race easily.
Run 7 - 997.1 Switzer built with 6MT and 800+ whp. Fastest car of the event.
997.1 does not allow the 997.2 to jump on it. Simply too big of a power disparity here, game over.
Run 8 - Gintani Stage II supercharged DCT M3
M3 just looks like it lets off.
Run 9 - Renntech tuned M157 E63 644 whp
Pretty good start on this one but PDK wins the race despite the power disparity. The E63's weight does it no favors. A longer run would likely have the E63 coming back up top but it is what it is.
Run 10 - 458 Italia stock with passenger
It just gets flat out pulled, no contest.
Run 11 - SRT8 300 with 850 whp
Horsepower just manages to win this one up top but this goes to show how down low a dual clutch can minimize a large HP advantage significantly.
Run 12 - Supra with 1002 whp
Takes a second for the Supra to get going but once it does it just pulls away up top. Win for big HP.
Run 13 - BMS Tuning F10 M5 ~640 whp
Slight early start for the 911 Turbo. The M5's DCT pays dividends though and it stays with the Turbo and begins to inch up on the top end. Race is over before the M5 can pull past. Strong showing for the F10.
Run 14 - 997.1 Turbo with full bolt ons, upgraded 68mm turbos, and meth injection ~650 all wheel horsepower
A jump for the 997.2 but the horsepower of the 997.1 Turbo takes over fairly quickly. Too big of a power disparity between the two.
Run 15 - 880whp Supra
Lag, lag, lag, spool, win.
Definitely a nice compilation here showing various outcomes and scenarios. What one should take away is that dual clutch transmissions in shorter distance roll ons where more shifting takes place are dominant. Additionally, such conditions favor a 997.2 Turbo as the lower rolling speed benefits all wheel drive traction. Overall, several good runs showing it is not always the most horsepower that wins and that it takes a large HP difference to overcome a starting deficit in a short roll on.
