• Michael Schumacher out of coma and leaves the hospital where he received treatment the past few months

This is a fairly big piece of news that is not getting too much attention as little has been released about the state of Michael Schumacher and what his condition is. What we know is that his family took him away from the French hospital where he was receiving treatment after his skiing accident. He is reported as being out of his coma but there is no word on whether he is speaking, comprehending, or what state he is in.

He was taken to an undisclosed location by his family where he will receive further treatment. It is possible he is unresponsive and will be on some type of life support which his family will provide the money and facility for. If Schumacher was up and about chances are we would see it so his family removing him as quietly as possible without alerting any media seems to not bode well.

We certainly wish him and his family the best in this difficult time. The good news is that his manager confirms he is out of the coma, "He is not in a coma anymore. His family would like to explicitly thank all his treating doctors, nurses and therapists in Grenoble as well as the first aiders at the place of the accident, who did an excellent job in those first months. The family also wishes to thank all the people who have sent Michael all the many good wishes to Michael. We are sure it helped him. For the future we ask for understanding that his further rehabilitation will take place away from the public eye."

Great news, but unfortunately he's most likely barely even a shadow of himself before the accident. Some good info here:

Unfortunately he is likely in a vegative or close to vegative state. The wording of the press release was obviously quite deliberate and I don't see anything positive out of the wat it is worded.

I didn't take anything positive out either but his family has belief and hope. Nothing else they can really do I respect their privacy and hope for the best as well.

personally he was was the reason I got into F1....one of my business partners had his hawker parked next to MS's in Geneva. I never met MS but my partner had several times and said he was a class act.

as you said now it is family time and hopefully we hear something more positive in the future.

Same here, he was my hero back in the 80s and 90s. Very sad state of affairs.
