• Weistec engineering releases 45 AMG M133 parts - Downpipe, midpipe, and turbocharger heat shield

Weistec has officially begun their M133 AMG 2.0 liter direct injected four-cylinder tuning era. The new AMG motor is getting a lot of attention from tuners but so far the majority of the tuning has been based around piggyback tuning boxes. Weistec is taking a different approach and supplying the market where it was lacking with quality hardware. This includes exhaust pieces such as a downpipe and midpipe as well as a turbocharger heat shield.

Let's take a look at the downpipe, midpipe, and heat shield. The pieces themselves are obviously beautiful. Weistec takes a maximum performance approach to their parts as their downpipe is catless unlike the factory piece which contains an integrated catalytic converter. This obviously is a major area of restriction and with this restriction removed the car breathes much better.

How much better? How about an additional 27 horsepower at all four wheels courtesy of the Weistec downpipe and midpipe only on 91 octane pump gas?

A very healthy gain from exhaust modifications alone on pump gas without a tune. Additionally, there is no check engine light generated by the catless downpipe. The price for the downpipe and midpipe (which includes the heat shield below) is $1,795.00.

      Key Features:

      • 100% mandrel bent and TIG welded
      • Constructed of low carbon 304 Stainless Steel
      • Stainless steel heat shields offer the Weistec look and function
      • Easy bolt-on solution
      • Improves exhaust note
      • No Check Engine Light

As the turbocharger is mounted up top this can lead to considerable heat in the engine bay. Heat soak of course becomes a concern and this means reduced performance after multiple wide open throttle pulls. In warm weather areas this is especially noticeable. Weistec created a heat shield for this reason and the pictures depict the design and its purpose perfectly:

With Weistec heat shield in place:

      At $295.00 the upgrade is a no-brainer: http://weistec.com/m133heatshield.html

      Key Features:

      • TIG welded
      • 304 Stainless Steel
      • The Weistec look and function
      • Drop Under Hood Temperatures up to 15 Deg F
      • 5 Minute Installation

Weistec Engineering is also developing an anti-surge valve. When it is released BenzBoost will of course bring you all the details.

Almost a shame to have to put it where people won't see it.

That is awesome! So when will weistec add a tune with those mods?

Weistec has not discussed a tuning solution yet. From my limited discussion on the topic they do not seem to be super enthused about the piggyback options and they seem to want a proper flash solution and the jury is out on how long that will be.

Mkay then tuning proper it is. When it does get cracked I can see this thing being a MONSTER. Hopefully MB will produce a lot of the AMG 45 so when people are trying to sale them with 50k mile on them it'll be obtainable unlike the 1m.

When it gets cracked and someone puts a massive single on there... good times.

You will love it Sticky, some minor annoyances with the responsiveness of the dct (you have to click the paddle .5 seconds to hit your shift target) but damn its a little monster. I think someone will be able to program out the dct lag and this thing will be a work of art.

Rebellion TCU Tune. Did it on my bros cla45 and the shifts are crazy fast with much better response. Also take out a good portion of torque limiters in the trans the car spins all 4 when launching now
