The Mercedes power fizzled out a bit this weekend as two Mercedes powered car retired, The first was Mclaren Mercedes' Jensen Button, who retired from 2nd place with a fuel pump malfunction and Force India's Nico Hulkenburg. Lewis Hamilton dominated the race from the start and looked unbeatable. He took off from pole position and never looked back. With his win, he jumps up to 2nd place in the championship standing, 37 points behind Alonso. The Mercedes AMG F1 team finished 6th and 7th with Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg. At the start of the race Schumacher was able to maintain his position of 4th, but by lap 7 fell to Vettel and Alonso aided by DRS and slipstream. Schumacher was forced to pit a second time with 10 laps remaining and fell to 9th place. being on fresher tires he quickly passed Senna, Kobayashi, and Di Resta to finish right behind Kimi Raikonnen. ...Published on 09-08-2012 05:07 PM
The Mercedes powered teams came to Ferrari land and have dominated the race weekend so far with Mclaren Mercedes leading the charge and Mercedes AMG F1 right behind them. This track suits the power of the Mercedes engines well with Red Bull Racing and Lotus Renault unable to challenge with their Renault engines. Ferrari broke the Mercedes dominance with Massa securing his qualifying spot in 3rd place. ...Published on 09-08-2012 05:18 AM
The last update posted by BenzBoost on the SLS AMG Black Series came on July 13th where spyphotos revealed the car close to production ready with ceramic brakes. Our graphic design artist Wild-Speed worked with the spyphotos to create a rendering on what the finished product will likely look like. Considering how accurate Wild-Speed is, these renderings are likely very similar to the real deal. ...Published on 09-06-2012 04:12 AM
Here is a superb road test from the magazine Autocar where they compare the new C63 Black Series Coupe to the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8. Now they absolutely adore the car awarding 4.5 out of 5 stars. The only knocks on it really are its fuel consumption (who cares at this price point?) and its weight. The weight criticism is valid with the car at just slightly over 4,000 pounds. For a track special that certainly is a heavyweight especially in comparison to the svelte GT3 RS 3.8. ...Published on 09-05-2012 10:30 PM
Mansory is known for extravagant and expensive body kits. Their W204 C-Coupe offering is no different and certainly over the top. There are aspects of it that still look good while being aggressive such as the carbon fiber vented hoot and the carbon fiber trunk spoiler. Unfortunately, the other pieces detract from what could be a classy upgrade. The rear diffuser is not bad but we have to wonder what the person who designed the exhaust tips was thinking. ...Published on 09-05-2012 06:03 AM
As reported in March of this year, the GLK would receive a facelift for the 2013 model year. This facelift included minor styling changes but most exciting was the updated 3.5 V6 motor under the hood. The GLK350 would go from the M272 3.5 liter V6 with 268 horsepower to the direct injected M276 3.5 liter V6 with 302 horsepower and start/stop technology. Car and Driver got their hands on the new GLK350 in rear wheel drive and 4Matic all wheel drive and here are their results. ...Published on 09-04-2012 11:36 PM
Here is a comparison video pitting three very fast luxury sedans against one another from a stop and from a roll. The cars are a tuned W221 S65 AMG (Wheelsandmore Stage 2 tune ~720 horsepower) and two stock cars in a Jaguar XJL Supersport and Porsche Panamera Turbo (with a Techart body kit). On paper the advantage is clearly in the favor of the S65 AMG which has much more power and torque versus either car but is the heaviest of the group. ...Published on 09-03-2012 06:10 PM
Rejoice W211 E55 and 55 AMG fans, the day is finally here. We first announced that this upgrade was being developed in December of last year and as usual Weistec diligently worked on it and delivered as promised. The 3.0 liter supercharger upgrade is officially on the market. There are several advantages to the 3.0 liter twin screw versus the factory 2.1 liter namely in the areas of efficiency and heat management which is vital for a positive displacement application. ...Published on 09-02-2012 06:28 PM
Mercedes AMG F1 entered Spa struggling, just like they left Hungary. They were unable to run on Friday because of the torrential rain which hurt them during qualifying and saw them outside of the top 10. Come race day, Michael on his 300th grand prix was able to finish in 7th place with an ailing car after he lost 6th gear with 10 laps to go. Rosberg fought back from 23rd to finish in a respectable 11th place. ...Published on 08-31-2012 05:28 PM
We are going to see some absolutely awesome battles take place between the new twin turbo BMW and Mercedes SUV's. This video below shows us runs between a G63 AMG that is stock and a BMW X5M from a stop and a roll. The X5M wins decisively and is the faster SUV of the two. The first run from a stop with the X5M using launch control on the G63 is simply a beatdown. The runs from a roll even when the G63 AMG jumps (the driver sure likes to start early) still have the X5M creeping up from behind and pulling up top. ...Published on 08-30-2012 02:50 PM
Vath just released their V50S package for the W212 Mercedes E550. The pacakge includes exterior, suspension, brake, and engine upgrades. Exterior upgrades consist of carbon pieces including a front lip, diffuser, grille, and trunk spoiler. Velos Designwerks just posted M278 software tune dyno results for a W212 Mercedes E550. Baseline for the car was 379 wheel horsepower and 418 pound-feet of wheel torque on a dynojet in STD correction. Once tuned, the wheel horsepower number rose to 425 for a gain of 46 wheel horsepower and the torque number rose to 483 pound-feet of wheel torque for a gain of 65 wheel torque. ...Published on 08-28-2012 01:21 PM
AMG will be solely responsible for Mercedes V12 development for all future models. This does not mean the V12 will disappear from the Mercedes portfolio just that AMG will be hand building the low volume motors. AMG already builds the M275, M279, and Pagani V12's for example. 600 models will not be gone from the lineup but instead will feature AMG motors without the AMG badge. ...Published on 08-27-2012 04:45 PM
Accidents happen all the time in racing but usually it is not the pit crew which is involved. An unfortunate situation took place at this past weekends DTM Race at Zandvoort in the Netherlands (Audi ended up sweeping the podium for the race) where Ralf Schumacher was pulling out of the pits in his AMG DTM car when his spoiler caught the air hose line from another crew and dragged it with him clotheslining the pit crew to which it belonged. ...Published on 08-24-2012 05:02 PM
Now this is the type of video and comparison we dream about it. If only we had MotorTrend's resources to make it happen. In what they call the "World's Greatest Drag Race 2" (which essentially is a sequel to a similar drag race they did last year that the Nissan GTR won) MotorTrend adds some big new challengers into the mix including the Lamborghini Aventador and the McLaren MP4-12C. ...Published on 08-23-2012 04:21 AM
The current generation W204 C-Class is near the end of its production line. With the special edition C63 Black Series AMG being the last model launched on the W204 platform the AMG model is a very nice way to send off the W204. Well, on the the W205 which will debut next year. Expect the powertrain options to be similar to what we have now although we are hoping for a dual clutch transmission to find its way in. ...Published on 08-22-2012 05:12 AM
Hennessey released their HPE700 upgrade package for the 63 AMG M157 Twin Turbo motors. They installed the package on a W212 E63 AMG and it put down a respectable 549 wheel horsepower on a dynojet in SAE correction (torque numbers were not included for some reason). The package consists of an ECU dyno tune and intake modification which we figure is simply an air filter change. ...Published on 08-21-2012 05:29 AM
Last week we posted that Wesitec set the M156 horsepower record at 789 wheel horsepower. We received an updated graph from the owner of the CLK63 Black Series BenzBoost member ecampbell showing the car put down 837 wheel horsepower which is the setup that was used to set the 1/4 mile record for the fastest Mercedes. The boost in power comes from a different pulley producing more boost and VPMS109 fuel. The car runs a 3.0 liter supercharger system at approximately 17 psi of boost. ...A look at how AMG evaluates M157 Twin Turbo motors on their test bench - Is break in even necessary?

Many Mercedes and AMG owners in general forget that the motors in their vehicles have been tested to strict standards before the motor is ever put in their car. Kind of makes old thinking regarding break in go out the window. Every single motor is run to redline and tested to make sure it was assembled correctly and that the motor is doing exactly what it should be. Just look at the glowing manifolds and exhaust form the high temps due to the motor being run hard for an extended period. ...Published on 08-19-2012 09:51 PM
Mercedes AMG GP entered the 2012 season ready to mix with the top dogs of F1 and take that step to become a real championship contender after a lack luster season the year before. At the start of winter testing, they decided to use their upgraded ’11 W02 car in Jerez, as the ’12 car was still under development. The delay caused chatter among the teams thinking that the Merc team had something up its sleeve. Even though they used the update old car, the Mercedes team showed promise setting quick times. In Barcalona, Mercedes revealed their W03 car and continued to top the sheets with their double DRS system. The DRS stalled both front and rear wings when activated. The other teams tried to ban the system since they didn’t know how it worked, therefore they couldn’t copy it, but FIA ruled in favor of Mercedes. ...
