Well this is definitely interesting, an S-Class convertible? With the demise of Maybach Mercedes intends to fill the gap with several S-class variants. Dr. Uwe Ernstberger (next gen S-class project leader) stated the following in a recent interview, "We want to broaden the range of the S-Class and we'll have additional variants of that car. The next generation gets a lot of technical features that allow it to improve in extreme ways, so in a way, we need to broaden the range to accommodate that. We can go in more directions with it." ...

Veilside is a Japanese tuner that builds some extravagant body kits. Their "Fortune" kits in particular tend to make a bold statement. The word fortune being accurate as this kit is going to cost exactly that. 3,000,000 yen is roughly $39,000 at current exchange rates. That is a lot of dough for what will essentially be another R230 body kit inspired by the SL65 Black Series. This kit will be limited to 300 units which we think they will be hard pressed to sell anywhere near that number. We look forward to seeing the final product unveiled at the 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon but will not hesitate to mention there are much more affordable options out there to get this same look. ...

This is great news especially considering that the A-Class is coming to the USA. The A25 AMG will be sporting 340 horsepower from a new 2.0 liter direct injected turbo 4 cylinder. This same motor will likely power AMG variants of the upcoming CLC25 AMG as well as GLC25 AMG. It will make for a great entry level AMG tuning platform and with 340 horsepower will offer strong competition to its rivals namely the BMW 1 Series and Audi A3. ...

Here it is, what everyone anticipated was right on the heels of the Weistec M156 superchargers, the Weistec Mercedes SLS AMG 750 Supercharger Kit. This supercharger is the same 2.3 liter twin screw unit used on the M156 motors however the setup on the SLS is much stronger. 638 wheel horsepower for a Weistec M159 SLS 750 supercharger vs. 538 for a Weistec Stage I+ M156 supercharger. A 100 wheel horsepower difference is nothing to sneeze at and anything over 600 wheel is simply incredibly powerful. ...

The new R231 SL was recently revealed and naturally the design was debated. This led to us wondering about what a new AMG SL would look like and BenzBoost with the help of our graphic design artist Wild-Speed decided to render it. You should find the final result pleasing with the car looking much more aggressive in the front as well as the rear which takes a styling cue in the exhaust tips from the C63 Black Series. Expect the new SL63 AMG next year and for it to sport the new M157 twin turbo V8 with with a performance package option to boost the horsepower well over 500. ...

Mercedes continues to expand its offering in the USA and we commend them for it. We will finally get the A-class in the USA according to Autoblog. This is the third generation A-class and the US was skipped over on the first two that were deemed far too downscale for our market. Well, times have changed and the 5-door hatchback will be competing with the Audi A3 and VW Golf. Expect Mercedes new turbo 4 cylinder under the hood and maybe even an AMG version. ...

Congratulations to BenzBoost member Propain for raising the bar on tune only performance for the C63 AMG. On the BenzBoost forums a rather lengthy thread took place regarding tune only 60-130 records. Two users were battling it out back and forth with runs in the 9.X range but Propain managed to break into the 8's with an 8.86 on 1.5% decline. The car has an OE Tuning tune and was run on 93 octane pump but we do have to mention it has an aftermarket K&N filter. Regardless, congratulations for the new record. ...

The ML63 AMG was recently revealed making its official debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. No surprise that tuners are going to take a liking to this performance SUV and Russian tuner TopCar has already released renderings on their take. TopCar tends to do over the top designs and this is no different. In rendering forum, this simply looks too busy. However, if it ends up anything like their Cayenne Turbo widebody kit this will likely be the most aggressive option out there for making the ML63 stand out from a crowd. We will have to wait for the final product to see. ...

There are conflicting reports on what the name of this vehicle will be. CLC is what is being reported but it may be BLS as well. Regardless, the baby CLS will be making its debut next year and it will be made in North America at the 2012 New York Auto Show. The renderings below clearly are inspired by the new SL. Expect the vehicle to have Mercedes new turbo 4 cylinder under the hood with an all wheel drive option. No word on an AMG version but we hope that happens. ...

We are not huge fans of big name European tuners. Why? Their stuff is overpriced and underperforms. They seem to live off their brand name more than anything else. Case and point, the Senner offering for the SLS. Senner tunes the ECU and adds an exhaust system (rear section only) for a bump of 35 horses. In addition they give you their gaudy 20 inch wheels and the KW coil-over suspension. One is better off taking the $25k and simply getting the car supercharged for massive gains or just getting an ECU tune from someone else for more power. Combine that with a good full exhaust system and pocket the change with better results. ...

We reported on the possibility of the G-class getting the M275 V12 earlier in May when we published the rumor that was going around. This rumor does not appear to be going away as new reports state the G65 AMG with 612 horsepower is coming but a new piece of news also states the G55 will be ditching the M113K supercharged V8 for the M157 twin turbo V8. These reports are unconfirmed but we will have the official answer either at the Detroit show in 2012 or the 2012 Geneva Auto Show in March. ...

Well, the Ernst Lieb story just keeps on going. A few weeks ago we reported that Steve Cannon was replacing Ernst Lieb as the head of MBUSA. The reasoning for Lieb's dismissal was that he charged personal expenses to the company expense account. It would seem that Mr. Lieb disagrees with Daimler's actions and is taking them to court. His argument seems to hinge on proving that Daimler was aware of his charges and simply made an example out of him to please the U.S Justice Department and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission which brought bribery chargers against Daimler AG. That case was settled for $185 million. Lieb may have a case here if Daimler was allowing executive in other countries to charge vacations to their accounts in order to get government contracts. ...

Nice to see some results for supercharged CLK55's that come from the factory with the naturally aspirated 5.4 liter M113 V8. This a W209 CLK55 AMG which unlike the previous W208 CLK55 AMG generation has a slightly higher compression ratio bumped from 10.5:1 to 11.0:1 showing the Kleemann supercharger setup is solid being tuned well with the higher compression M113 motor. The car has the Kleemann supercharger kit, headers, cams, and a primary cat delete. ...
