The M157 twin turbo powered ML63 AMG will not come cheap, starting at $96,865. This pricing is higher than the comparable X5 M which starts at $88,850 for the 2013 model. Both performance SUV's undercut the Cayenne Turbo by decent margin which starts at $107,100 but quickly goes up with options. The reality is with options out the door these are all $100k+ plus sport utility vehicles.

Mercerdes does not sell the Actros in the United States and that is too bad, as it is seems to be a very capable truck. Europeans agree as the Actros won the European Truck of the Year Competition for the fourth time in 2012. It is versatile as well doing everything from towing, to racing, to now serving as a taxi. Check out the video from Mercedes below to see some surprised individuals when the Actros pulls up. ...Published on 02-03-2012 07:10 AM
The W221 S-Class is set to be replaced in 2013. Here is the W222 undergoing winter testing. Even with the camoflauge we can see that the styling seems to be more evolutionary than revolutionary which is logical considering the direction Mercedes took with the new R231 SL. The interior is being completely revamped with a huge new command infotainment system. Engine choices to be expected are the M278 twin turbo 4.6 liter V8 in the S550 and the S63 AMG version will get the M157 5.5 liter twin turbo V8. ...Published on 02-02-2012 08:50 AM
We always like to see real world racing comparisons (although not on public roads) between tuned cars. The two vehicles here both belong to BenzBoost members. The OE Tuning car to JonsC63AMG and the Eurocharged car to BK63AMG. Both cars have a charcoal filter delete plus their tunes and were run on pump gas we assume but no way to be certain of that. A very close race with the OE Tuning car edging out the Eurocharged car. This can likely be attributed to Jon's low weight which has been claimed to be similar to a high school cheerleader with an eating disorder. Do not laugh, eating disorders are serious. ...Published on 02-01-2012 06:41 AM
The Nissan GT-R is a very fast car in stock form. However, its main strength is going from a stop with its all wheel drive and dual clutch transmission allowing it to get a jump on most cars. From a roll, it isn't exactly unbeatable in stock form as this race with an SL65 Black Series shows. The GT-R in the video is said to a be a 485 horsepower version so likely a 2008-2010 model. We would like to see how a 2012 would fair in its place but the SL65 would likely still dominate it. ...Published on 01-31-2012 07:55 AM
We have seen our fair share of videos lately of wrecked cars that were driven irresponsibly in public. We all are here because we love powerful cars and appreciate the engineering and performance. There is a time and a place to use it and we all have put the pedal down at some point or else we would not be here but this type of behavior as shown by these drivers from Qatar is exactly why insurance companies, politicians, and law enforcement are attempting to spoil the fun for everyone. Take it to the track or at the very least do not race in traffic dodging innocent bystanders at high speeds. ...Published on 01-30-2012 07:31 PM
Well, get ready for the new line of Mercedes 4 cylinder motors going into the A, B, and CLC class cars sharing the new MFA platform to be built for Daimler by Nissan. Nissan will produce the engines at its powertrain plant in Tennessee. Daimler intends to set up a plant next door to Nissan's Mexico plant which will expand the partnership between the two significantly. The new plant will be used to produce small models for Nissan and Mercedes. ...Published on 01-29-2012 11:23 PM
The SLS GT3 is an excellent GT class race car. The vehicle has started the year off very well sweeping the podium at the 24 Hours of Dubai. In this official video from Mercedes and AMG they show what goes into preparing a SLS GT3 chassis for racing from adding the motor, to the suspension, lights, etc. We doubt the guys who have this job prepping a $400,000+ GT3 SLS for competitive racing complain about it. This video is Part I and we are eagerly anticipating Part II. ...Published on 01-27-2012 08:40 AM
We know Mercedes has been testing the B25 AMG and A25 AMG. The CLC spotted testing here will share the drivetrains of the A and C class cars and feature similar front wheel drive and all wheel drive options. It is likely to follow then that Mercedes will do an AMG variant of this vehicle as well likely with all wheel drive and a 340 horsepower 2.0 liter turbochaged direct injected four cylinder. The base CLC will have a 1.8 liter turbo four cylinder, expect it next year. ...Published on 01-26-2012 05:40 AM
The B-Class is coming to the USA as we reported Mercedes plans to boost sales with a B-Class plug in hybrid. The hybrid does not interest us but this AMG version certainly does. The B25 AMG will likely share the powertrain of the upcoming A25 AMG. That means a turbocharged direct injection 2.0 liter four cylinder putting out about 340 horses. Will we get the B25 AMG in the USA? We would not shed any tears if the hybrid had to be cancelled to bring us the AMG version instead. ...Published on 01-24-2012 07:42 AM
Hybrid versus diesel. We tend to stand on the side of diesel when these two are brought up and we wish there were more diesel options from German manufacturers in the USA. One would expect a turbo diesel motor making a bunch of torque to have no problem with a hybrid. Well, that was not the case here. Insideline tested the two different approaches against once another which made for a very interesting comparison. ...Published on 01-23-2012 05:51 PM
Mercedes has set the lofty goal of raising sales by 20%. How are they going to get that increase? Well, in a variety of ways but they intend for plug-in hybrids to be a part of it. The plug-in hybrid B-Class variant will be a USA only car. With BMW barely outselling Mercedes 247,907 to 245,192 in the USA Mercedes seems to want to push to the top by offering more efficient and entry level models. Should enthusiasts start to panic? Not while Mercedes is still able to deliver awesome Black Series cars to us. ...Published on 01-22-2012 08:06 AM
AMS, known very well for their Nissan GTR work, intends to get into the Mercedes tuning scene with the new twin turbo M157 powerplant. They recently picked up a 2012 E63 AMG that was not equipped with the performance package. They got a baseline for the car on a dynojet dyno and it put down 463 wheel horsepower. This is 20 wheel horsepower less than the baseline Renntech got for their CLS 63 AMG. One possible explanation is that the Renntech dyno is in STD and the AMS dyno is in SAE. Regardless, we look forward to more dyno runs to help put these numbers into context.

What we have here is a wrecked W221 S65 AMG from Russia (surprise, surprise). The owner apparently took some passengers out to show them what the car could do even though road conditions were wet and icy. The driver lost control when going through an intersection at about 130 miles per hour flying into a metal fence belonging to a Lada dealership. Amazingly, the driver and passengers were able to all walk away under their own power. ...Published on 01-19-2012 10:08 PM
The A25 AMG is clearly on the way as seen here. The model testing comes very quickly on the heels of its production being announced and that the A-Class would be coming to the USA. As stated in the previous report, the car will get a 340 horsepower 2.0 liter direct injected turbo 4 cylinder. It will compete with the Volkswagen Golf R and Audi S3. With no 1 Series in the USA it would seem Mercedes will have an advantage over BMW in this segment. ...
