You are asking me, on the internet, to go participate in street racing across the country somewhere in the middle of the night apparently where I've never been. You honestly take someone saying they don't want to do anything illegal as 'backing out' somehow? How old are you again?

So you want to go shut down some road in the middle of the night to do some runs. This is so idiotic I can't even tell if you are serious.

I was under the impression I would be competing with adults on something like a drag strip where we don't get crappy grainy video in the middle of the night or have to worry about running away if someone calls the police. I would like quality content to show along with timeslips in an environment that won't endanger people. I guess I'm getting old by stating I'd like to be responsible with a high powered car. Or in the case of your amazingly brilliant reverse psychology 'backing out' as you'd say.

LOL wow. Grow up. "

Either arrange a strip rental or forget the whole idea.

The eprom would be saved on the laptop and a connector would be plugged into the ecu or soldered on in many cases.
It would also make identifying maps much easier. This worked well up to the 29F800 range of eproms and then the ECU's just got faster in a big hurry and rendered the technology from EVC obsolete.
There was a period after this that was the dark ages because you would need to solder the eprom on and off each time a change needed to be made and around 2000 things went to the flash via OBD route.
^^ This. It's the reason a TunerPro RT (Real time) exists. It actually shows you the cells currently active too. It's awesome.

Aaaand not going to happen for us most likely. But we can dream. "
