No, that stuff is for the M5. I run the 135i on E98 normally. Will probably switch to methanol soon though as my 55 gallon drum of E98 is about empty. :)

It's a great event but sponsorship is too much work. I'd rather just show up when I feel like getting there, help customers who happen to be there racing, and have fun testing our cars out. :)

I really hope everything goes to plan there. It would be a serious game changer!

Just use BB to flash ila0s to the car. Problem solved. ;)
PS. You won't be able to use Cobb then but can do the tuning via BB. Or better yet use our ila0s back end flash along with a JB4.

Yeah I made that mistake once. Showed up at 6pm and by 1am I had gotten 2 runs. I'll wait for a private day. :)

Starting at 50mph in 3rd it feels good to me. But the rubber meets the road at the runway. We'll find out soon enough. :)

Sat! Just booked a hotel at Kettleman super8 for Friday night. I'll be there around 8:30-9pm if anyone wants to grab some food.

There is zero data on the twins to analyze but based on the twin turbo boost numbers I heard thrown around (700rw @ 29-30psi, etc) I'm not sure that is the case here. On this time will tell.

No it's not a fueling issue on pump gas. It's an effective compression ratio coupled with low octane issue. With lower CR pistons I think both numbers could go up 30-50whp. When a good fuel pump...

I did a few 3-4 shifts with the lvl10 at 20psi and they seemed OK. My private track isn't long enough for 4-5 shifts. So we'll just have to see how it does Saturday at ShiftSector. Car is loaded up...

No offense intended here, but I think logs speak for themselves, and when logs are not posted I think that also speaks for itself. I agree the 570rw on 91 octane number is doable, as is the 600rw on...

The DME does nothing at all. It just motors along like everything is fine with a 20:1 AFR. It doesn't even lower its load target. Bizarre.
Fuel trims work within a +34% range whether you are...
No doubt the number can be hit, we did some 91 octane higher boost pulls on our E92, but the logs looked awful even with almost no advance. No way I'd operate the car on the road like that. Remember...
For some odd reason, the DME alone will not limp out if AFR goes lean, I have no idea why and never found a way to fix it via Cobb or the BB flash. As far as I know that is a JB4 only feature.
Unlike a flash tune the JB4 monitors both factory widebands switches you to map 4 (WG spring) if its lean for more than a second under boost. Which happened here. But if the vacuum lines are wrong...

No the flash won't fix your boost control. You'll have to sort it out on your own or find an experienced mechanic to go through it. Based on the log something is clearly wrong so start digging around.
04-16-2014, 05:26 PM
Even on map 4 its over boosting so you probably mixed up vacuum lines on the solenoid or wastegate. On map 4 (PWM = 0) you should run a smooth 12psi based on the WG spring.
04-16-2014, 04:47 PM
Serious boost control issues there. Always start on map 4 to run off the WG spring and work your way in to boost control slowly and carefully.

Depends on the kit and what you include. A high quality turn key kit from FFTEC is probably around 9k installed.

Planning on it. The backup car is DrN55 which would be a huge drop off. Jon @ BMS is racing our M5.

No idea.. I'll go easy on it for a day or so just in case.

It feels pretty smooth racing around. Would be a lot more fun with 50whp more.. But that will come with time. For now I'm hoping he can have a fun days racing without breaking anything.

There are reliability factors as well. Single turbos basically get started where RBs max out. Ando is happy with around 500rw on pump + meth so for now the car will stay around 20psi.
04-15-2014, 09:01 PM
The runs are done on a dynojet in 4th gear. On the street this one hits its boost target around 3400rpm.

For those interested in a what a mild FFTEC 5858 bottom mount setup puts out we did a couple runs today with Ando's 335. It's an automatic trans running 93 octane and 17psi as a daily driver setup. ...
