    "Stock" HR 350Z vs E92 M3 DCT

Found this video of our local meet members going at it. 350Z driver claims it is stock but I have my doubts, especially given how hot it is right now. I think he might be spraying a little bit of nitrous. He has posted 1/4 miles times of 13.2@104 "stock" which i about what stock M3 are doing at the track this time of year. IT just doesn't add up. This run is against a Stock E92 DCT M3 which I feel should walk it given it's 100hp advantage and DCT.

My thoughts exactly. He could've passed off those times in the Winter, but not Summer. @Bimmerdude went 13.2@106 irrc correctly in his bone stock HR 350Z but I'm sure he had better conditions.

Hmm those low 13s seem right for a stock 350z HR.

Low 13's is right if he was running slicks or drag radials.

Here they usually run in the higher 13's. I just thought it was funny he beat the e92 M3 "stock". He's been trying to race my buddy's GTO for the last three weeks, and we felt something was off. So this kind of confirmed it.

If the clutch is slipping it should be showing a lack of performance, not an increase. Its not stock.

I ran a 13.239 and multiple 13.24x and .25x runs. On different nights, but all before I hit 10k and started modding. Those were all with low 1.9 60's, and I had third overall on the board for stock 350z's. That said, I was trapping 80-81 in the 1/8th (others were 82ish), and 105.6 was my best trap (most got 106-108). I blame it on Florida. My best conditions were a positive DA, I think ~800 ft at the end of the night, based on data collected at the track after the run, and an online computer. What all that means, is that I had pretty good conditions (under 80, low humidity, good track) and I picked up 25 mph in the second half of the track, about the same as an E46 M3. The cars make ~ 270 whp stock dynojet, so it should lose to the E92 by the same margin as an E46 would... Now, that all said, I didn't hear nitrous or see the car jump like it had nitrous, so my first instinct wouldn't be that he's spraying.

you must have superhuman eyes because in a video when everything is dark its hard to see the nitrous hit...

Besides, it only takes a 50 shot to keep up with a stock M3... Car isnt stock.

M3s dont run good in the 1/4 so thats not really a fair comparison, they are better roll race cars so compare the stock 60-130 of a 350z with an M3 and it will make sense hes modded.

I love how its an M3 with DCT so that Z must be modded, oh no he was spraying... Here's a something else, maybe the dude can drive! Maybe the M3 driver sucks or maybe it was a good run overall. In any case interesting vid and perhaps a new run in better light is in order. I will say that if the Z is spraying its the most subtle hit of spray I have seen or its being pushed out with a progressive controller

assuming the Z driver was epic awesome omfg bbq driver...

The M3 only needs to mash the gas, he doesnt need skill for that.

So even in a perfect world, say if the Z could shift as fast as the M3 (it cant even with omfg bbq driver) then how is he going to make up the extra 100 hp?

Yes the M3 is a little heavier, couple hundred pounds, 100 hp will stomp all over that though...

    I just dont see it.

My buddy text me and confirmed he is spraying. He's getting a new clutch, DR's, and Nitrous tune some time soon. He says he is going for mid to low 12's next time he hits the track.

Bump this from the dead as I just came across this today, the car has test pipes that is the only mod the car has, I have no reason to lie and it still sits the same way today, it will be on nitrous by the end of this month but the car has never seen spray, and if any local m3 owners out there I would love to run and see if it's my car running good or that m3 just sucked.
