    Anyone here using Megasquirt 3?

Recently i put a TVR speed six in a 2002 and the hardware is almost done, just the coolant lines need to be relocated and then software part begins. I have MS3 in my mind, but my cousin says Motec, However that's beyond my abilities and since it's a garage build, i want it to be done by myself not anybody else.

Only thing that bothers me is the timing drift i have had experienced in some cars with older MS's. Is this problem still available in the newer MS3?

    Thanks.

It's a standalone ECU, like Motec, Vpec etc... But it's much less expensive than those and more importantly anyone with a basic knowledge of tuning can tune engines with Mega Squirt.

@RabbitPusher uses megasquirt, and I'll be using one on my jetta. just curious, why ms3? ms1 and 2 are a lot cheaper. What motor are you hooking this up to?

Compared to ms2 or ms3, ms1 is missing a lot of out puts. The tuning capability is also limited by its lower processing speed and map resolution. However if you have an ms1 v2.2, v3 or v3.57, an upgrade to ms2 can be easily achieved with the installation of the ms2 daughterboard. You will also need a simple firmware change.

Thanks for the help people. The question is still unanswered, do they fixed the timing drift issue in higher rpm's?

a 8000 rpm TVR engine which makes ~490HP into a rusty 2002. The trans is causing me more problems than i thought so the engine should get removed so i can relocate the mounts.

MS1 is kind of old fashioned and the board used compared to MS2 is dated. The reason i chose MS3 over MS2 is because i can get a great deal on one. The only problem is it gives me more options than i need and it drives me nuts lol. Do you plan to tune the Jetta yourself?

Thanks for the help. The only problem is the ms2 daughterboard and where i live, this type of stuff are much rarer than pretty much anything.

Is that a Dual vanos motor? I don't think any megasquirt supports that.

Basically nobody here is going to be familiar with tuning TVR motors.

A motor is a motor when it comes to tuning with a standalone. Nothing really going on with that motor that would make it difficult. MS can run ITB's.

Agreed but I just don't think guys here know what standalones to use with that motor or which ones have been used successfully.

With the Megasquirt you would be using all new sensors, so it's kind of all same for every motor. Slight differences here and there. You can hook it up to any motor successfully, except DI motors.

There is nothing magical about tuning TVR motor. It's just an air pump like every other engine. The Megasquirt is one of my favorite tuning ECU's, it has a learning curve though. MS2's and MS3's can be used on almost any engine in the world, there are 1500 hp dragsters running on megasquirt and 160 hp daily driven miatas running them too. Most versatile system you can get for the money, but it is not straightforward if you intend to learn it from scratch.

An intriguing discussion is worth comment. There's no doubt that that you ought to write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo matter but usually people do not talk about these issues. To the next! Best wishes!!
