Aquamist HSF-3 Water/Meth injection install on a BMW E36 M3 GT Twin Turbo

    Hi guys,

I'm installing the kit but its hard to find a good location for the pump, since I am using the OEM washer tank the pump needs to be somewhere in the front left corner of the car, or in the radiator area.

Do you know if the water pump has to be mounted vertically or if it can also be mounted lying down (horizontally), that would make the install much easyer since there is plenty of horizontal space.

    thanks,

    Sven

    1. dont do a underhood install

    2. if you REALLY want to, BMS sells a bracket for the pump

    3. you would have to search N54tech for area's, i know a few have done custom mounting locations

Mount the pump preferrably lower than the tank if you can.

You dont have to mount it close to the tank, just vertically lower. It can be anywhere, run a line to the suction side of the pump but make sure the line is always going down instead of up, you dont want the meth to cavitate.

Even this is a bad idea, it can be successful if you do it right but it is very easy to screw up and cause vapor lock which basically means your pump is moving gas instead of liquid, and this can damage your motor.

Why not just do a trunk mount?

The main reason is that I am not sure that this equipment is legal here. EVERYTHING needs a TUeV approval by the Germans. So I will have to try to make it look stock.

Another reason is that I like the stock look by using the washer tank.

In any case I found a perfect location for the pump, very close to the washer tank and where the pump can remain vertical and below the tank. It's now mounted in the right front corner of the car, under the blinker, behind the bumper/fender liner. Tonight I will install the FAV and hopefully do the wiring, its not complicated, just switched power, ground and injector interception. The rest is plug&play. The Aquamist kit is one of the best designed things I have ever bought, not only talking car stuff here. Instructions are easy to understand, and in color. The wiring is all pre-plug'd also color coded. Very little "real" wiring that needst to be done.

These are actually very good reasons. Hopefully somebody can help you mount it as I have little experience in this department.
