This will be out next month as part of a subscription package. I apologize it is taking so long but the hold up has been custom programming which gets expensive.

PM's are private messages. You shouldn't post them to the public now matter how big of a douche the sender or reciever are. If you have an issue with a PM, it should be delt between the Mod/Admin and the involved parties. They are not for the public to see. The only way I could see them being public is if a vendor/user are scamming the community and they should be exposed.

What he said. I was gonna post the same thing. If say a vendor or a person was giving you the runaround or poor customer service on an issue that arose (the BC wheels incident or ASR fiasco), posting a PM showing their undue lack of support in order to warn other members 'hey dont give this guy any money, hes been jerkin me around' is ok in my book.

Using it to inflame a personal feud over some dyno or some stupid 60-130 race where you beat each other by .0192751 seconds is grounds for suspension and possible termination.

Don't drag your posting habits and personal quarrels into this.

    I agree with Scourge.
PM's posted can easily be fabricated so there is NO way to verify if what is posted as a PM truely is what was sent.
So better to leave the whole PM publishing out of the equation.
For matters like Andygate for instance, posting was meaningfull, but that was a vendor issue.
Normally speaking posting PM's does not add to forum experience, unless there is some sort of dispute.
For those occasions we have the Dispute Resolution section.
I regret that it has come so far we need to have a rulechange to stop certain people from creating drama on a forum full of adults.
There are two theories to arguing with women. Neither one works

I really don't think we should have an ignore list for threads. I think it takes away from what this forums is all about. Having constructive arguments enriches the forum. But if someone makes it personal and posts an attack against you or someone else, neg rep him and/or report it. There is no need to stoop down to his level and attack him. If you do, than you are no better than the attacking member. I'd like to think we are all grown ups and not a bunch of hormonal schoolgirls.

Some people are going to continue going after each other so if a member has the option to exclude said person from their threads it should cut down on drama and nonsense. Basically makes ignoring them truly possible.

you are not entitled to confidentiality on private messages, no matter the forum. We don't need more nanny behavior, especially on a forum that prides itself on free speech.

As I've learned in my line of work, once you put it in writing, it's for the world to see. Haven't people learned from Twitter and Facebook already?

    Don't ban it.

IMO, incorporating an ignore list for threads is unnecessary. Those that need a forum ignore function to keep away those they dislike lack maturity. To ignore is free, though it may require some will power.

If someone continues to post in an OP's thread after it becomes clear the OP doesn't care for their participation, that unwelcome poster just looks immature and annoying.

RE: posting PM's, I think private message means private.

It is and if one or the other person decides to break your trust in privacy so be it. We do not need forum rules for this, I think its a rule of life.

Further no one should have a right to control their threads. Isn't freedom what this site is about? If someone goes and $#@!s in your thread the forum via rep points can take care of it. If someone keeps $#@!ting in your thread maybe look in the mirror if no one else minds this. Going this route we going to have parallel threads discussing what some people cannot say in a thread they are unwelcome.
We all big boys here and we can take care of ourselves without gestapo regulations.

No one should have a right to have more control over threads they create? They create the topic/discussion. It should go as intended. Someone should not be allowed to crap all over an awesome build thread for instance.

It's best to allow thread creators to decide for themselves. That isn't a gestapo regulation, it's a choice.

after more consideration, leave it all be. let the rep system work, users just need to use it more often. also, i think toal rep could use tweaking. a high rep user should still get a "time out" if xx amount of people, regardless of rep neg them within a certain amount of time or single thread. time-outwhether it be it hours or days ect.
