I am pretty sure the C55 Kompressor has a de-tuned version of the E55 motor and guys with regular CLK55s have been bolting up 55 blowers for quite some time, so why would this not work or be made to work?

Damn, this is awesome. Makes me miss my E55 even more now. It just sucks that repair costs&parts for a W211 E55 are still astronomical. Even though the cars can be bought in the $20-30k range you still have to pay for parts on a $100k car. The parts dont get any cheaper from MB&the W211 wasnt the most reliable in the electronics department.

What's the difference between this kit and the 3.0lt for the 63 motors?

    They run the old W210 E55 M113.

There is no C55 Kompressor model.

You can supercharge those motors but they are different from the M113K motors. Similar basic architecture but different internals and other design difference like the ECU.

You might be able to adapt this with a custom build but it would require building those motors, getting a tune for the different ECU, etc. Not as simple as bolting this on like you can with the E55 which is already supercharged.

The motor application and tunining. It's the same basic blower but with differences to run on the M113K instead of M156.

Is the 63 motor justified the 6k price hike then?

I would think so as making the supercharger work on that application is likely much more difficult than upgrading a car already supercharged with a positive displacement blower.

The tuning has to be more difficult and more involved on the M156. So the cost difference is not as much hardware as it is software and development.

    5k extra for software?
I would like to see a detailed list of both kits and what comes with them.
Ps: the 2.3lt kit for the 63 is 15k even, and this is the 3lt @ 8k. No doubt the 63 kit should be a little more expensive but that much more expensive? Im just curious to see the differences in the kits.

Not the software itself but what went into tuning the setup. Like I said, getting the M156 supercharged and tuned is MUCH more difficult than the older M113k. Remember, the M156 starts naturally aspirated and this is a big difference. It also is a higher compression motor with a more sophisticated ECU.

So, all the development time that went into it is a factor.

Yep. You aren't paying just for the hardware. Look at the VF-Engeering R8 V8 supercharger which is $25k yet the RS4 system that uses the exact same blower is $13k. That one is a little tougher to explain.

Naturally aspirated motors have been supercharged since the beginning of time its not like black magic, pricing is reflective of the cost of the vehicle.

Actually Full Throttle, according to many tuners and large scale companies, what we proved to be extremely successful with the M156/M159 was black magic. Development costs and understanding how to put positive pressure through a highly complex engine, and manage all this with the factory electronics was not an easy task.

RNZ-11Z, we are dropping prices on our M156 systems so hang tight! The M113 Supercharger System has half as much components as the M156 system. As an example, we change the complete drive system on the M156 system, whereas the M113 system is kept fairly OEM with the exception of a stronger belt tensioner and billet retaining bracket. The M156 system also has a mechanical bypass valve that requires many moving parts, whereas the M113 has an electronic bypass valve that is carried over from the factory system. Hope this helps.

The assumption of them being similar is solely based On hardware used and not application. BMW's use similar turbos as other cars but the hold up is tuning and the time and cost involved as always.

I have no issue with the pricing just pointing the pricing trends for similar products across different platform lines.

You aren't understand the different application for the similar hardware. You can't just say oh it costs so and so for this motor so it should cost so and so for another motor. Doesn't work that way. Just cracking the M156 ECU to begin with is a huge undertaking. Who else has done it really? Weistec was first.

ESS has been "working" on theirs supposedly for years now. It really isn't as simple supercharging an AMG V8 as it is a domestic.

Look at the cost difference even between similar motors like the M156 and M159. The SLS system is more expensive due to design differences despite a similar base.

Kleemann don't have a S/C for the M113K, they have it for the N/A SL550, But I do remember their Kleemann S7 project but i dont think they work on it anymore. They do have the Kleemann K5 and K6 mapckage but it wasn't really worth the price and power I would recieve

My SL55 was a full Kleemann car with some things done here and there including a weight loss of almost 200lbs back from the dealer when it was ordered on a special request back in 2003. Close to the 680-670hp barrier. Car would fly the torque was a lot more than expected. A special thanks to 0-60Motorsports for helping me achieve what I wanted more of a brother than a friend, until two weeks ago I was informed by him that Weistec are launching this. We are ordering the kit for the SL and ordered a big heat exchanger kit too. We both plan to hit the 1000hp mark with this modifcation as what Weistec announced "Our 3L Supercharger can make up to 1000hp with the proper supporting modifications"

Lets hope for the best and lets get this build started eh Ejaz?

yeah tell me about it. Well I'll be working with WEISTEC to try and make this happen, If not now then in the future. But right now the goal is to get the kit on the car with a good tune, put on the dyno and fine tune it and go from there. @Weistec have been amazing throughout the process and now were just waiting on the kits to be ready for dispatch.
