Dear Bugatti, you have our record and we want it back. Love, SSC

Seems SSC (Shelby Super Cars) is not too thrilled about Bugatti taking the world's fastest production car title. You might remember the recent news posted of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport setting the record at 268 mph.

Here is what SSC had to say:

We've been working on a new project to debut before the end of the summer. Not much can be said at this time except that we'll be upping the ante on all fronts. Having famed American designer Jason Castriota as our lead design enables SSC to reflect its engineer and performance in its aesthetics. It's impossible for us to be more thrilled about having him on board and we're anxious to show the world what we have up our sleeve.
I mean, that is great that SSC is so bold and all but the Ultimate Aera is a glorified kit car in comparison to the Veyron. No disrespect to Shelby Super Cars, but the Veyron's transmission probably had more engineering go into it than the entire Shelby Car. It is nice the SSC Ultimate Aero is able to technically meet the requirements to qualify for a "production car" but it just isn't on the same level as the Veyron no matter what speed it hits, period.

Honestly the SSC aero looks like a kit car. I would never consider that car at that price range. I rather tune a 997TT to 1000WHP

there is much truth in here.. It just does not have that "refined look" that it needs for the price.

If I designed the SCC car it would rape all, but I turned down the offer to do so.

This is one of those apples to oranges deals, they each have their own pros and cons.

Personally, I think the SSC would be the more exhilarating, raw and therefore fun to drive vehicle.

The BV for daily driving for sure.

The Koenigsegg Agera would be a better match for the Veyron SS

The Koenigssegg is kind of a kit car as well but better than the Ultimate Aero.

    Why?

The Veyron is a top engineered car from top to bottom from one of the world's largest automakers with the best engineers available doing development.

The Koenigsegg is just some rich Swedes wet dream that was thrown together using a modified Ford V8.

The Veyron has a soul. The Koenigsegg is nice, lightweight and powerful just like a Mosler Mt900. Still basically a kit car though and not really a complete production car.

Pagani is more of a complete package and well thought out from the inside out. The Zonda certainly evoked all the right exotic tones.

Exactly, the Pagani and the Bugatti evoke something special that this SSC and Koenigsegg will never have.

How could you compare the Mosler or a SSC Aero to the Koenigsegg. The only car that comes close as a whole to the Veyron is the Agera

Actually the closest car to a Bugatti from an engineering standpoint is the Aston Martin One 77

Nah, closest car to the Bugatti is is the Zonda R.

The Mosler is on the same level as the Koeniggsegg, arguably more of a drivers car. One is the dream of a rich dude from the US, one is the dream of a rich dude from Sweden. Both are put together with parts from American car companies which essentially makes them glorified kit cars.

I would say the One 77 is above the Zonda.
