    In exclusivity, for sure.

If we are just talking about raw performance, really nothing can beat the Ultima GTR, especially for the money:

Actually I was talking about engineering not performance. The Veyron isn't a performance car is more like a GT.

I have to agree that Ultima GTR is a bargain of a racecar

The Veyron us an exercise in excess engineering. If they build the design around the power instead of the power around the design the car would have a much higher top speed. They had the body design done for the specifications and told the engineers to make it happen, pretty badass.

The Ultima GTR is the $#@!, period, when it comes to performance.

Does egg still use Ford engines? I thought they moved on to their own design a few years back.

I don't know which I'd rather have. The Veyron is the Veyron. It's an icon. But the egg is a faster track car. I'd probably take the Veyron, though.

I think they are still using modified Ford modular V8's. The Agera is supposed to be a turbo motor but the Ford block is still a base I believe.

guys im so happy to see others sharing my opinion on the ssc vs veyron, argument. yes the ssc is fast and amazing and incredible but its still a glorified kit car as far as im concerned!! as all these cars are running faster and faster ring times i think the line between production car and everything else is getting skewed, there are production cars(italia,gtr,lp560,lfa,997gt3), then there are your factory race cars like the 599xx and some of those crazy zonda r's, then there are your kit cars like the ssc, dont ask me how to differentiate them though lol....

SSC did a little bit of borrowing with their new design.

Nice to see that Koeniggsegg is still sporting the "Top Gear Wing." Funny no one mentions that.

In terms of build quality, that CCX-R is pretty up there with the Veyron. The Zonda, while being technically brilliant, doesn't exactly rub off as a grand-tourer. You can easily hop in a Veyron and do a 1,000 mile trip in it and not feel like you rode along with your face, back, or ass against the asphalt you just covered.

That is part of the show. The show was an hour long detailed documentary on every aspect of the construction of the car.It was pretty cool. The tire torture machine that was developed to stress the tires was pretty amazing....

I agree that there are major "production" cars from major auto manufacturers, and then boutique performance exotics from smaller, upstart auto companies. Gumpert, Ascari, Koenigsegg, SSC, Pagani, Morgan, etc... I'd lump all of them in the latter. The Veyron, Enzo, Revention, MC12, etc... I'd suggest are products of the former.

Not sure how you guys differentiate the Zonda as a philosophical step-up from a CCX-R or Aero...? Pagani doesn't develop their own engines either - they source AMG-built engines derived from a rather old (albeit revised/updated) Mercedes design. So they're all "kit" cars, if that's your definition of a "kit car manufacturer."

Forgot to mention - the Aero II looks to be a MAJOR design and build evolution from the original Aero. Kudos to SSC for that.

Konigsegg used to use .020" over 4.6L Ford Modular V8s with a centrifugal blower (3.57x3.55" B/S), then they went 324" (5.3L big bore/stroker, 3.70x3.75") and found out that you can't boost modular BB without blowing it up, and went back to a 4.7L Ford based variant with twin cent. blowers.
They now claim the design to be their own, but for all we know now it could easily be Ford's FR500 H/C/I and is definitely based on Ford/Modular architecture.

It is Ford architecture, they are simply trying to imply they are doing more on their own and it is somehow unique.
