    I don't have ant $50k+ bottles that's for sure.

I agree that the Scotch will last longer. Now that I'm into whiskey wine isn't as interesting to me.

This. Or even a splash of water. 120proof is very hot ("barrel strength"), and most bourbons at that level they recommend (or even expect) adding ice/water to mellow it out.

I have enjoyed a bottle or two of that. I recommend you try it a few ways. Drink it straight up, try it on the rocks, and try it with a splash of water. Its crazy how much different they all will taste.

It is out of this world good. By far my favorite now. Extremely mellow, fantastic nose and finish. Hints of caramel, brown sugar, vanilla. If you can find it, I highly recommend it (not sure they sell in to California yet though).

    Tonights tipple is simply amazing.
One of the best blends fantastic flavours

A stunning 12 year-old blend from Hibiki, some of the whisky has been part-matured in plum liqueur casks. Lovely malt from Hakushu and Yamazaki, plus some aged grain from Chita, this terrific Japanese blend picked up the top prize in its category at the World Whisky Awards 2010

There's a misconception that singles are by some way superior to blends. I am a single malt man myself but this blend is really worth a shot.
Not peaty so if your a peat freak it might not be for you.

I don't understand it myself. Some of the best whiskeys I've tried have been blends.

I suppose it's the exclusivity factor. Single malts make up a quite small percentage of the whisky market therefore the misconception that they are more special. At a guess.

It's shame everyone contributing to this thread can't all get together with a couple of their favorite whiskys for a good whisky tasting night. Little whisky chat bit of car chat a lot of banter.

On the wine forums we couldn't do this either due to distance so we'd do virtual tastings where everyone opens their bottles and then gives their impressions in a thread. The threads quickly change in tone as the bottles near empty.

Lol I can imagine they would. Not quite as good as a real tasting experience but better than nothing.

We should totally do this. Is it possible to do a closed thread that's invitation only?
