Drinking the Johnnie Walker Double Black tonight gents. I like it. It's not anything special but it's fairly smooth with an ice cube and complex enough to hold my interest. Would I buy it? No.

I've also had quite a bit of excellent wine though so I may be slightly off in my assessment. I also had catered crepes and the chick making the crepes was so hot. I don't know why I didn't hit on her.

Interesting - I was drinking the same thing (Double Black). I agree - it's good, and for the price, it's very good. It has a strong oak/wood taste, but I like it. Me an a buddy finished a 1/5th, and it is something I would to again - no regrets, good stuff.

I think I'm gonna start getting into scotch, anyone have a solid "starter" scotch? Been reading on a few Whisky + Scotch Enthusiast sites, Glenmorangie 10 Year, Glenfiddich 12 + 15, Glenlivet 12

The best first scotch is the one that tasted good to you. There is always that moment where it 'clicks.' Happened to me with several things. Wine and now scotch and more recently cigars.

So I'm trying the Double Black again. It's tasty and I definitely like it. It has this sweet and sort of smoky character to it.

I'm realizing I prefer a more 'peaty' Scotch though. The Double Black is interesting and offers a good amount of taste it just lacks complexity to keep me interested. I'm 50/50 on whether I would buy it. That said, it's a fine Scotch.

Love a good cigar (especially on the golf course or in a hot tub), but that unfortunately requires good weather and its only been 50*+ 2-3 days so far on the East Coast. Hoping that with the end of March we start seeing more "spring" weather

I'm interested to hear @kev335i & @nafoo 's thoughts on the Balvenie. Spoke with a few guys at the liquor store I shop at they all praised the Glenmorangie & Balvenie for the quality of scotch vs what you're paying. Mentioned Oban and they said it is a very good scotch, but it is currently priced at $90 a bottle with expected increase in pricing because of importation/supply issues.

balvenie double wood or caribbean cask are the ones ive had. Both very good indeed. Im in the UK double wood is around £36 and caribbean cask is around £41 so sounds about right on the price ish. Got a few others to try winging thier way too me! What balvenie are you looking at getting?

Putting together a bachelor party and hiring a "master of whiskey" for a private sampling at one part of the evening. Good cigars, the worlds best whiskeys and a group of rat pack impersonators from a show in Vegas. Will be taking photos and notes to share with you guys here about the different drinks.

I love Balvenie 15 and it's cheaper than Oban Distillers Edition (15) by about $20/bottle. The increasing in pricing is going to make it not worth it to me, though.

Bought my good buddy a Glenmorangie 18 for Christmas. It was very good, but cost about $90. I'll stick with the Balvenie 15 as my go to since it's only about $75 a bottle when you buy a case...

Picked up the Ardbeg 10. Very nice and great Islay style. Like it more than the Laphroaig 10 but not as much as the Big Peat. It is smoother than the Laphroaig but lacks the Big Peat punch.
