    I have owned a 370z and now the 335i....

the 370z is a nice car but there are a ton of haters of it, 350z owners being one of them...

I loved my 370z... quick car I went 12.92@109 in the 1/4 with it... thats good for like 5th on dragtimes but a few crazy guys with weight reduction and a lot fo seat time got down to mid 12s....

The car handles better than the 335i. It has a VLSD with is better than the open diff in the 335i.... Put one on the 335 it may balance out but thats not stock. The suspension is great in the Z but its only 2 seats and something I grew tired of... I wanted a trunk and back seats so i got a 135i... You will miss the Tq and the Tq is what made me forget the Z but now a year or two later I miss the Z again... one sexy car for sure... lmk anything else you want to know about it

Theyre very photogenic... Something about my coupe that doesnt make me want to take pictures of it like I did my Z... prob bc u see 10,000 of them a day LOL...

when I had my Z in 09 during the first year you didnt see them at all which was cool...

the earlier models have oil consumption issues but Nissan was / is great with warranty work. I had FBO Long tube headers included and they had no problem working on my car and warranting anything that had to be done. Mine ate 1qt every 700-1000 miles and they replaced the motor no questions asked after the first qt lost on the OC test with all my mods on it. I miss nissan and will own a Z again if they never put a FI mod worthy Z on the market again.

    OR

skip the 370z... Buy a 07-08 350z and a spare block... build the motor and Twin Turbo it... built they put down GREAT power and are a riot to drive on the street. FUN FUN boosted car, tail happy and controllable... 370z is good too but still pricey, if you are doing a full build you might as well go with a HR 350z as long as you dont mind the looks... thats all personal opinion though.. I like both...

Here is my friends turbo , built motor Z ...

It's interesting that the 370 motor had oil consumption issues early. The VQ35 suffered from it's share of oil consumption problems as well for the first couple years it was out. Turned out to be something wrong with the rings I think.

The 350Z is so damn awkward looking though. The 370Z is just way better.

Yea... some syncro issues on earlier 6mt models as well, but I beat the hell out of mine and the tranny never skipped a beat... I chirped 1-2 2-3 and 3-4 in that car down the strip with the stock cluth, lol.. Video on you tube to prove it too.... I liked the transmission better than the one in the 135i I got right after... now i drive a AT and im not really sure why lol... 29 first AT car I have ever owned... It is nice in the morning and otw back from work but thats about it ...

the AT in the 370z is actually a very good tranny too, sounds cool with the rev matching as well...

Not sure if your car is a AT or MT, but when I went from my fbo e90 335i AT to my current fbo 135i MT - the difference was almost night and day when it comes to fun. The e90 felt much more refined though.

going to be insanely slow compared to a modded 335i. $4500 turbo kit is barely getting it to 400HP. Who knows how long the motor will hold up to that too?

I've been doing my homework on this exact topic and it always comes back to the 335i. ALWAYS. Even when I go out on a limb like a Lexus ISF or e92 M3 or E55/E63 or C63 AMG. I beat all of the cars I just listed in my 335i on stock turbos. I tried the EVO thing, yes it's way faster than a 335i and some people absolutely LOVE them. I'm just not an EVO guy. It is a super fun car to drive, I just miss my luxury. Other than that, 5.0 Mustang/Boss My buddy has a 5.0 with track pack, recaros, brembos and it's pretty badass. Still lost to the 335i but prob more fun to drive. In the end, I keep coming back to the 335i. I even looked at 911s in the $30k range. Still slow. And I'm certainly not a P-car type guy haha.

Totally testing the waters here, but im really starting to get bored of my 335i....

    So,
for around $30k, what fun/sports car would you buy? Mileage has to be under 60k and it can not be too un-DD-able (example: stripped interior turbo S2K wont work), and i cant buy a bike (which is my absolute top choice, but for family reasons, its a no go....)

    Some cars ive considered:
    -Mustang GT
-Corvette (Base model or GS if i can find it)
    -STI/EVO

Are there any fun AMGs or Audis at the $30k range? If i did swap cars, it has to be a car with similar performance (or potential) to the 335i.... So give me your choices!

Makes sense, being a boxer engine you throw a intake on their and you have to worry hah. At least it looks nice.

Here's what I've been looking at for around $30k
    335i/135i
    E55/E63 AMG
    5.0 Mustang
    EVO X
higher milage e92 M3, ISF, C63 AMG (I'd prob take a C63 even though I know it's slower than a 335i. It just sounds like sex to me)

I've also debated picking up a project car and leasing something like a Hyundai Elantra or something
    LSx swapped 240sx
    Termi Cobra
    WS6 Trans AM
Eclipse GSX/GST with HUGE Turbo LOL

If you have no need for a back seat, I'd prob put Vette closer to the top of my list. It'd have to be a slightly older Z06 though. A C5/C6 just wouldn't cut it unless the plan was to SC it. Or a Supra Click here to enlarge Those are just too played out for me though. This coming from an EVO owner LMFAO

996 Turbo if you didn't have to worry about backseats or insurance... Especially since the aftermarket potential has been heavily explored and that the 2000-2009 motors are nearly bulletproof. Stock Motor in Kill Mode (NOT a DD setup) is good for ~750 WHP on the 996s + mid-800s WHP on the 997.

You're not getting a 996 turbo for $30k though. If you do it'll be super high miles will cause super high maintenance costs and soak up all your mod money lol

For $30k, Just get an E46 M3 and go see MaximumPsi right away. Spend $10k on their turbo kit and you will have a nice beast!

Yeah but is $10k all you need? Can stock internals handle it? Does it come with internals? What other supporting mods do you need? I agree you could pick up a decent e46 M3 for $20k. Then if $10k is all you need to go FI I'd say that's a good option. I'd never drive one if it wasnt FI.

From OPs list, pretty sure that's not enough HP for what he's looking for.
