Another Ferrari 458 versus Mercedes-Benz SLS roll on race comparison, this time with a 458 Spyder

The Ferrari 458 versus SLS AMG is an interesting comparison that tends to get the users here riled up a bit. On one side are members who believe the SLS is significantly faster and others who believe the cars are evenly matched. Just last week a video was posted of stock Ferrari 458 versus a Stock SLS AMG and the cars were fairly evenly matched with an edge going to the SLS AMG. Here is another comparison between a stock Ferrari 458 and an SLS AMG although this time the 458 is a Spyder.

So what happens? Well, once again the cars are fairly evenly matched with the edge going to the SLS AMG. Who wins really seems to be who gets on the gas first and who is in the right gear. The SLS with its higher torque seems to be more forgiving to starting speed but this is basically a drivers race.

The 458 has a folding metal roof which adds weight. Only a 110 pound penalty though so the 458 Spyder is still about 300 pounds lighter than the SLS AMG. Regardless, the cars are close in acceleration. Watch the video below and come to your own conclusion.

I'm really starting to like the SLS a whole lot... it's kind of everything I like about the M3 but taken further and BMW has no alternative. I think Mercedes deserves my money.

I dunno about m3 comparison lol, but m6 and more, sure. I love amg's, just hard to justify price difference from an m6 to an SLS, sl63 I could see, love the car, it's worth the price tag. I don't see the extra 100k for an SLS though...IMO. 200k plus, time for a lambo, 700k plus, pagani...lol

    @Sticky, Unbelievable!

    Ladies and Gentleman,

The SLS that Joe posted about above is the SAME SLS from trackhos that was discussed previously in this very thread:

    http://www.benzboost.com/content.php...tock-for-stock

The Same SLS that Killed another 458...

Now your saying that its STOCK? when you stated that you will stick to your claim that it was "tuned"

Hey, Maybe the 458 from last year was a tuned 458! and maybe the 458 that @AWD75 raced was also tuned!...do you agree? I mean you just changed your mind and stated that it was stock!

M3 makes more sense IMO as the naturally aspirated V8, dual clutch, weight distribution, actual weight, etc. The M6 is closer in price of course but it's heavier, turbo. The SLS is like taking a naturally aspirated high revving front engine rear wheel drive V8 German car and putting it on steroids. The M6 is more of a car for straightline blasts and touring.

The SLS has a dry sump, 48/52 weight distribution, exclusivity, etc. It's EASILY worth the money.

Who cares really ? It's been shown in multiple videos that the SLS and 458 are virtually dead even and as you said they are so closely matched that whichever car gets on the gas quicker will be the deciding factor.
    Dead horse.

Exactly but more videos just reinforce it.

Hopefully people see by now the cars are close. There really isn't more to say. I do believe the M159 has more potential in NA form however so a bolt on SLS should bet a bolt on 458. But even then it shouldn't be night and day or anything.

Why are you so passionate about whatever the people at the forum discuss? Can't you just let some things slide? You have great contributions here and the other forum, being passionate is great about things you have done ,on the other hand forcing your observations or opinions and experiences unto others will only bring heated debates, please try to relax.
    Thank you

Who is forcing any observations? I'm just discussing EXACTLY what is shown in the video while others try to put a spin on it and make it something it's not. You need to direct your criticism to those who seem intent on making things up.
