Autocar compares the Jaguar XFR-S sedan to the facelifted W212 E63 AMG - Large praise for the facelift

More impressions of the facelifted W212 E63 AMG are coming out as the new car gets into journalists hands. Autocar got their turn with the car and being Brits they decided to pit it against the XFR-S sedan. Let's all be honest, the real competition is the BMW F10 M5 although the Jaguar XFR-S is an excellent vehicle. Both cars actually have the same horsepower rating in the UK although they go about it differently with the Jaguar having a supercharged 5.0 liter direct injected V8 and the E63 AMG the well known M157 5.5 liter direct injected twin turbo V8.

So which one is better? Well, the impressions are strictly subjective as Autocar did not do any real performance testing. How do they get these cars if they do not do any real measured testing with them? What's the point?

Regardless, the E63 is what Autocar chooses as the superior vehicle. It simply offers better steering feel and the better motor. It's more fun to drive. It's the better car. This is not even the AMG S version with more power and all wheel drive that would likely distance itself quite easily from the XFR-S. We'll have to wait for a real test to find out but for now the facelifted W212 E63 AMG is drawing glowing praise.

The Jag is pretty...and that's about it. It's just not able to compete with the RS6/M6/E63, unfortunately. S model would have embarrassed it badly.

It's a very nice car and performs really well. The E63 is just on another level, namely the S.

Yeah most definitely. What a wonderful world we live in where a car like the XFR-S is the "worst" car in its segment.

The S version was tested in the famous "supertest" of the German car magazine "sport auto" this month, very positively. 7:55 on the Nordschleife which is extremely fast for such a heavy car, 240 km/h through Fuchsrhre which is just absurdly fast. Dyno test yielded a bit over 600hp (crank).

    A very good car.

That's a very damn good laptime. It's mostly due to the power but still... impressive.
