Mercedes SLC to be called AMG GT instead? New 2014 C190 platform AMG sports car reportedly ditching SLC moniker

Mercedes-Benz can not seem to make up its mind as to what the call the upcoming Porsche 911 rival being designed by AMG. The SLC name has been thrown around for quite some time now. It would appear Mercedes is ditching that name and going with AMG GT instead. What we do know about the car (internally designated C190) is that it will have a lightweight aluminum structure in the 3200 pound range and use a new turbocharged M177/M178 4.0 liter V8 direct injected powerplant.

The name is not nearly as important as how the car drives or its drivetrain but if Car and Driver gets this wrong BenzBoost.com will be sure to point it out. By all accounts thus far it looks like we should get used to calling the C190 the AMG GT.

It is and definitely more affordable than an MP4-12C.

It won't be as rare though.

If you can afford your dream car why not buy it? This Mercedes will most likely depreciate over the years. Can you say the same for the MP4? Id get the MP4 now if it is feasible.
