Wow that went bad pretty quickly. Lots of people don't realize that one of the most important things about racing is practicing how to get out of your belts quickly and exit the car. Perfect example here. Glad no one was hurt.

This is why nitrous can be scary. Makes you think twice about using it.

Wow, the whole time I was watching this I was thinking move your freaking cars further away. I didn't think they were going to be able to control it after the first round of extinguishers. Clutch by that one guy who stopped the flames that were starting up under the driver door.

Exactly what I was thinking. It took a good 30 seconds to get out of the car lol, and he fell down in doing so.

Just put a blower, $#@! nitrous.

Very curious why this car wasn't equipped with a automatic fire system.

EPIC job by the fire crew.

Just about all driver egress situations I've seen involve the driver falling out of the car. It's what happens when you don't practice it. You can clearly see him in the video realize for a split second that he's strapped into a car that's on fire and he starts struggling with the belts. Scary situation if you've never been there.
Getting in the car when everything is mellow is easy, getting out when the thing is on fire is a whole different ballgame. Anyone with 5 point harnesses and a cage needs to practice this.

I honestly didn't think he did that bad of a job other than falling down. It took about 20 seconds and it looks like he remembered to cut the battery power, right before getting out.

It should really take no more than 10 seconds in an emergency situation like this. Those flames were already in the cockpit and every second counts.

Driver egress vids' Granted open cockpit but you get the point. It's a lifesaving skill that anyone racing needs to learn.

what a utter and embarrassing mess that was, the driver im ok with he got out safe an thats all that matters, the "first responders" were a joke! they parked there cars too close, they had on no safety gear, and worst of all the nitrous/fuel cell could have explode and they were in t shirts with hand held fire extinguishers really close to the fire! they risked there life to save a car thats already totaled and destroyed!

I was thinking the same thing...I don't know what they were thinking, I was waiting for an explosion but glad it didn't happen. There had to be a hefty amount of nitrous in that car, it was almost as if they kept pressure and were fueling the fire in the engine bay, they probably didn't get the fire out until the bottles ran out...

it looked like a bunch of drunk guys bumping into each other with no training, any sanctioned motor sport even should have better safety measures than this. lets play devils advocate if he couldnt get out of the seat belts these guys wouldnt be able to help him.

Who is negative repping us for pointing out improper safety? Sorry for pointing out anyone racing or going to a race event should probably take notice of what safety measures are in place before you just start ripping down the track. I know I go to my local track and they have a truck setup for fire with truck and full gear

    This example he was lucky.

Adam and his 330 that burned to the ground was a very close call for him.... He still got second and third degree burns even with a fire suit.
