SpeeDriven SL65 AMG M275 V12 turbocharger upgrade dyno results - 798 wheel horsepower

Well, nice to finally see some numbers for the SpeeDriven M275 V12 turbocharger upgrade. The motor is an M275 6.0 liter V12 used in the R230 SL65 AMG and the turbochargers are twin GT30 units. This is not an aggressive tune yet as the turbos were tested at 21 psi on a mix of pump and race gas. Horsepower in STD correction on a Dynojet registered at 798 and the torque figure is an earth moving 909.89 pound-feet at the wheels.

SpeeDriven expects to raise the boost to the 25-26 psi range and BenzBoost looks forward to seeing the numbers with the boost cranked up and race gas.

A graph with RPM versus miles per hour would be much more useful but it's easy to see that the torque is dropping off pretty hard from the 900 pound-foot peak early in the powerband. This is definitely a stump puller of a motor.

Congrats to SpeedDriven on the upgrade and for the data. It will be nice to see where this platform ends up now that a bigger turbo option is a reality.

So when is someone going to do some serious head work on this motor? I want to see 1000whp.

This is seriously impressive though. Well done SpeeDriven

That's the question. This thing needs some head and cam work.

Well let's see what 26 psi brings. Something in the 800's I guess with over 1000 wheel pound-feet?

Yea I would think that's a good guess. Like we've talked about before this thing really needs heads/cams to make those big horsepower numbers up top. More torque is not what they need all it's going to do is blow the tires off harder down low making grip an issue it really needs to breath uptop to make this a monster.

The m275 is a 6 liter motor, whereas the m285 is a 5.5 liter (found in base maybachs, ect)

Still impressive though, nonetheless. Those twin turbo v12 Mercedes are really coming down in price now too.

You're absolutely right 600 5.5 and 65 6.0 not sure how I made that mistake.

I was going to say this needs E85 badly. The only problem that kept me out of a 65 series Benz was the fact that all the V12's, when something goes wrong, it goes REALLY wrong(+$$$$$$$)

Nice. It will be interesting how much the tranny and the drivetrain can take in the longrun. The torque down low and in the midrange is no joke. I think this will be the biggest challenge for the tuners. But great to see the progress on this platform. Thumbs up!

Very. Although AMS is trying to sell their (white!) S65 for about 24k...I cannot think of a better deal in the automotive world.

The SL is 800 lbs lighter also. It's still a convertible.

The last large numbers I have seen personally for an SL was my brother's @Jacob502 670rwhp SL63. Its pulling like bullet. I wonder how this one runs, most likely it will be much faster
