Car and Driver comparison: Aston V12, 458, R8 V10, 911 turbo S, and SLS AMG

Enjoy, the 911 turbo S is just a ridiculous beast: (CD server having some issues, if files fail to load download to view)

Whats up with this, the Porsche is the fastest and the cheapest of the test? I thought only the z06/zr1 could accomplish this feat. I am surprised that the vantage v12 was not faster. Trouble getting the power to the ground?

Its also interesting that in this price range(200k to 300k) they left out the 2 cars I would actually buy. The 599 gto or the gt2 rs. Personally I like the look of the sl65 better than the sls(gullwing doors excluded) as well.

It traps a little higher than the DB9 because it has a little less weight, that is about it.

    The Porsche is amazingly fast.

Ok, I think there might be a size limit to the Google PDF viewer of around 10 megs... which is a $#@!.

    No doubt about the Porsche!

I thought the Aston would be more in the 12 flat range at 120, which is where the 11 gt500 is.

What I find most interesting is the 458 trap, what is going on there? This was being touted as a 130 mph car, guess not. 125 is kind of disappointing...

^^^ Your right the 458 has the same power as the sls minus a little torque but it is 300lbs lighter! Huger power to weight advantage for the Ferrari yet the Merc matches the times in the 1320 and 140mph. Very interesting.

Well 458 is being portrayed as sooo much faster than the 430 but honestly for the difference in HP on paper you would expect more.

Also, the SLS is step for step with it. Seems those 450 whp dynos we saw for the 458 may be accurate after all. If so, this is the first time I have seen Ferrari so optimistic with an HP rating.
