I agree turbo location and plumbing (hot and cold) are huge factors. Rear mounts are a joke.
RPMs are fun on the track, but I'll take displacement over RPM, especially on a street car, definitely when they are 4,000lbs or more.

I'll take RPM and displacement. 1.5 liters won't be enough to make up for a big enough deficit depending on the build. Torque at 3000 rpm doesn't mean much if I'm making the same torque at 8k. At least not in a race.

Dude, we're talking LUXURY SEDANS that are STREET cars weighing 4,000lbs.
Torque at 3,000 RPMS is EVERYTHING for a street car.

If you want to talk racing, it's not going to be an overweight Benz or BMW.
It's going to be a lightweight Corvette........or 911 for Euro leg humpers.Click here to enlarge

You mean it's everything for a truck towing. Did the E60 M5 have a ton of torque at 3,000 rpm? What did it rev to? Was it a luxury sedan?

Sometimes you have passengers, or groceries, or a full trunk, or need more space, or not in your sports car. You can race anything in a straight line.

I agree that ultimately you want a lightweight platform but then what would be the point of a 600 horsepower sedan to begin with?

Dude, torque is everything on the street. Especially with a luxury sedan.
I take a $hit on that M5. Overweight and no torque.
BMW is dead, and has been dead, for a long time.

My dad was one of the first Americans to own a BMW.
My famliy has been riding BMW bikes from the beginning.
The last good new BMW was the V8 M5.......in 1998.

    Yes, I know you have a M3.
    That's your fault. LOL

Great analogy! That makes complete sense like the majority of your 'points' do.

this e63 in the video belongs to me. i really think car can go 10.9 and even 10.8 with just tune. all it needs is a good launch and try to tune down the torque limits as they are insane.feels like audi r8 at the shifts.car cuts 50% of torque.my 12 s63 shifted much better and smoother.i think oem down pipes on s63 are better also.i hope renntech will let me know about any revised tune as i know how to take my cars to the limit.my 12 s63 ran 11.63@125
