    German Tuner Mcchip-dkr gets the M133 2.0 liter in the 45 AMG models over 400 horsepower with a Stage I tune - Working on Stage III twin scroll turbo upgrade

    More good news on the tuning prospects of the M133 AMG 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder in the new 45 AMG models continues to roll in. German tuner Mcchip-dkr with just their Stage I tune was able to raise output from the quoted 360 horsepower to 410 horsepower. The dynograph below shows horsepower output at the crank. Keep in mind this is just a Stage I tune but what is impressive is that the torque gains start at 2500 rpm and continue to redline.

    Not bad for a motor many figured would be at its limit straight from the factory. Additionally, Mcchip-dkr announced they are already working on a Stage III twin scroll turbocharger upgrade to take output up past 450 horsepower which they should reach easily. There are no pictures of development and it is likely a ways off but tuners already announcing turbo upgrades for this motor makes it an incredibly exciting tuning prospect.

    That's a torquey little bastard, isn't it? Twin scroll should be a great development for this motor in terms of area under the curve and lowering the RPMs where power comes on. Makes one wonder why MB didn't go with one for the stock application.

    I mean MB could have but this thing is already performing really damn well and they likely didn't want to get it any closer to the 63's.

    It's going to be fun seeing these run 11's.

    AMG did use a Borg Warner twin scroll for the stock application. I think they mean they will offer an upgrade for the stock twin scroll unit probably bigger wheels aka hybrid turbos

    You must be looking at a different dyno than everyone else. Additionally, over 400 horsepower on a factory 2.0 liter is incredible.

    Respect it for what it is. Putting the motor down because it isn't 'big enough' for you isn't what being an enthusiast is about.

    Right, I don't know how anyone could look at the attached dyno plot and use the word "peaky" to describe it. Unless they had a bias against the car under review for whatever reason...

    He does have a bias. I really don't understand it.

    I think it's pretty cool AMG has multiple motors available with different flavors for different tastes. It's also interesting to me to see a 2.0 liter four banger pushed so far from the factory. Things just keep getting better in the tuning world.

    If it doesnt have the bore size of a keg with a 2 foot stroke it just means it sucks ! Because things like headwork, cams, efficient turbos, dethrottling of the intake tract, great cooling, etc cant over come 1.5 liters of displacement ever !!! Not to mention the increased friction any time you increase displacement. Thats why its common to see the tiny displacement hondas pushing out crazy HP per liter numbers compared to seeing the same in a 6+ Liter motor the extra friction/rotating weight just makes it so much harder. I guess thats why the GTR sucks so much puny little 3.8 liter displacement .....

    ahh my mistake

    locally last week, one ran 12.2 and 12.3 at 113mph with some sort of basic tune... better rubber/better track prep/colder night away from 11's just about haha

    The only dyno that matters - the BIG BLACK DYNO at Western Sydney International Dragway. Stock the development A45 went a best of 12.71, tuned with Willall Phase I system 12.28. Same fuel load, same warm temperatures, everything else identical. Real world gains that an A45/CLA owner can reproduce exactly without the marketing spin. There it is.
