Had a '11 Jaffurs Syrah Bien Nacido last night. Was very good, and previous years have rated them 93-96+. Brought it to a restaurant, solid 90-92. I think this would really benefit from a decant.

My friends brought a Pine Ridge? Cabernet, which I thought was a 90 point. Seemed a little tannic, and that could've used a decant as well.

When bringing a bottle of wine for dinner, is there any way of getting a decent decant?

Decant, then put it back into the bottle and bring it to a restaurant?

When I was first delving into wine I thought Pine Ridge was 95+ point stuff. Heh, I really liked it. Now I can't drink it.

So what was the first wine to make you say "Wow?" I guess to be more specific, which cabernet?

Today at lunch with a few customers we had 2 bottles of '10 Cakebread cab (ordered '09 Caymus but they were out). The first bottle tasted like it needed another 6 months in oak but the 2nd bottle wasn't terrible. The food was awesome so I think it made the wine taste better.

Nice. Turkey is one of my favorites (although beyond my $20 limit for an everyday drinker). I'll have to look at the others - thanks for the suggestions!

Hahaha - just realized my ipad corrected to turkey from Turley. And I will definitely try Steele - normally I'm a fan of Lodi or Dry Creek zins, but always looking to branch out. Thanks for the recommendation.
