The Tesla Model S is a sick, sick car. It's absolutely awesome and incredibly quick for what it is.

Not much of a top end to it but it's a torque monster. Imagine if they gave it another motor up front...

That torque is great off the line, but they aren't that impressive from a roll. A buddy smoked one the other day in his FBO 535...

The Vette had a bad launch in the first vid.

The trap speeds tell the tale.

Still, the Tesla is very impressive for what it is.

Looks like the Tesla trapped 110 both times, vette 116 on the first pass and 118 on the second. Vette is MUCH faster up top. Its incredible to see how consistent the trap seeds are for the Tesla, but then again, its not like it has heat soak to deal with. Bracket racing electric cars will be uber boring.

Would that Telsa even hook on a normal street? That thing has to just spin the tires with all the torque.

It hooks and has traction control that limits torque. It's also heavy.

Just built one on the Telsa website like the one in the video. P85+ package, came out over $110k. It would hard to pass up on a M5 or CLS63.

Yeah it isn't cheap and you can't really do much to get more out of it.

Pretty good for 4 doors, a usable back seat and a full trunk. I like your thinking for a wife's car.

After a 1/4 mile there is no chance with the tesla. I raced tesla with my cobalt, pulled on me till I hit 80 and It looked like it put on the brakes. Car is only good for a dig and 0-60 lol. After that it doesn't even move lol.

I fail to see what is impressive about an ELECTRIC MOTOR that does exactly what it should... well until you really push this tesla S... I have buddies who bought them and ditched them within 6 months... if you really press them they kind of fall apart... but lets no let the hype overpower some facts

Also, the model S is over $100k to get the performance us "petrol-heads" would want off the line

yes it is great on a 0 - 60 pass but that is about all... try taking one around a bend or 13

    A+

Elon Musk is a great marketer that is for sure... but lets see what happens when a $90k car (Z06 C7, F10 M5, E63 AMG) takes on the $110k Tesla

I was there for that event. There was another one there (black) and they ran pretty much identical times. Nice cars. The C7 Vette is faster, but I bet the Tesla didn't suffer from the warm weather we had at the track that day.

Or better yet, a $75k Audi S6 will trounce it all day long.

Oh yeah one other thing...know how hard it is to type on your iPhone while driving? Imagine trying to adjust the HVAC, or any of the other of the fifty controls on that stupid gigantic touchscreen center stacked in the Tesla.

It's definitely not a roll on car.

Still, cool for people who want to eliminate pumping gas.

I've thought about doing the same and getting off the grid as well. Solar energy and an electric car does sound pretty appealing.

Solar is great... Mum and Dad have had it for years in Australia... electric cars become a REAL PAIN in the arse though.. having to recharge constantly... mehh... save the extra $20k on the electric car and spend it on

Recharging doesn't bother me. Most of trips are short around town so if I eliminate having to get gas that's kind of nice.
