Never said this. I love the sl600/65! Even the s600 looks better than the cl.

True, although I believe they look like a bigger version of the that years s4 your looking at. Stock they are not special but wheels can add so much class!

There is a reason they sell for 21k. At this age and mileage they are maintenance nightmares. Even master techs and ones with a lot of experience hate working on those cars. Electrical problems, ABC failures or malfunctions, cats rattling, oil leaks out the ass, etc.

ABC issues are the most common. The pump is not cheap, and the lines are not easy to replace either, some of which require pulling the engine (which is 20 hours in itself). It's a ghetto mans Benz. Barely affordable but impossible to maintain. But hey I look good Rollin trying to get $#@!es and pussy right?

I'd stick with the Audi. If you were gonna do a benz it would have to be something newer that they revised their electrical stuff, and I would pick a 65 over a 600.

65 over 600 is another 15+k. I'm just trying to get some fun, cheap POS that can also be made fast.

Audi's are a world of problems as well...

problem with the audi is 1. control arms they are $1K for fully adjustable set that can be rebuilt for $100. game over.
    2. turbos that fail. K04 upgrade game over.

I would lean to an RS6 over a B5 S4. Although I don't know of any crazy upgraded RS6's which actually that is kind of cool.

That RS6 looks sick, I am liking the wide body look.

The CL600 could become mechanical money pit.

Why wouldn't they both be money pits though?

I'm with most. B5S4 FTW!! I like the RS6, but like it has been mentioned after a strong tune, the tranny is begging for help. Get the S4 with already upgraded Twins.

The CL600 with the sport package (which I believe but not sure 03> they all came with) looks exactly like the CL55. The only visual difference is brakes and muffler tips (that I can think of off the top of my head). The CL600 rides a little high and can easily be lowered with a lowering module or I heard people use the DAS/SDS to lower it. Believe it or not this heavy car moves..you get pinned to your seat and with a tune the car will be a true beast.

You would have to talk to an audi guy to know the limits of this engine without a build. With this said 650 does not sound unreasonable with tune and upgraded turbos and a few other mods. I did not know you wanted to go to the expense of upgrading turbos or other engine components for your beater? I recommended the rs6 based on the fact with basic mods you could have one running 11 and touching 120 in the 1320. Plus they are in the area of your project budget and lastly you would be a pimp since you dont see these cars that often on the road!
