Brabus manages to do a twin turbo M159 (63 AMG, SLS) V8 - 700 horsepower

Brabus has once again pulled off what few others, if anyone else, could. They unveilved a twin turbo SLS they built at Geneva. This is not a motor swap but a twin turbo setup on the M156 V8 with compression dropped down to 9.0:1 with forged pistons/internals. Custom manifolds feed two turbos they somehow got to fit neatly. Torque is raised up to 626 pound-feet which is far beyond the torque limits in the factory transmission. This does use the DCT transmission so how they did this is beyond us as our tuners tell us no one has been able to exceed these limits. It seems Brabus has made the impossible, possible.

So what you are saying is the planets Mercedes tuners should start recruiting their coding engineers on the World of Warcraft servers?

I'm just thinking Brabus has he resources and direct connections to MB to make this happen.

This isn't some little company that did this. This is a big player, really the biggest aftermarket Mercedes player. They are virtually OEM in what they do. So, no surprise here it was Brabus with their unlimited resources that did this.

No little tuner could have done this and also, comparing Ford and GM tuning to Mercedes is like comparing a paper airplane to the space shuttle... and that may not have enough exaggeration.

because isnt the MCT what the current e63 and new C63 will use. And that is not a true dual clutch.

I thought the SLS came with a true dual clutch, not the MCT tranny thats in the e63 and new C63

You may be right, I thought it was the SpeedShift trans or do they call both the MCT and DCT's speedshift?

The trans used in the SLS is the same as found (hardware wise) in a Ferrari 458 it is not the wet clutch MCT band aid used in the SL/E, future M157s, etc.

The SLS is also THE prime M159/M156 variant (M159 is a SLS motor) as far as fitment goes, there is a ton of room in front of the motor to mount everything or free up space for other things. Bravo to Brabus, this is a project only they could have taken on and achieved.

DadsC63 made 661lb/ft on a 160 shot with 7G (722.9) for I think 6-8 passes before destroying his 24k old well worn tranny. I think he would kill (maybe close to it) for the SLS's trans.

Ok, and torque limitations are not programmed into it in the same way?

Edited to reflect DCT, Mercedes should also stop calling everything speedshift.

It absolutely has limiters however what they are for a Brabus TCU may not be the same as it is for a standard issue SLS. They have the power to call Bosch, dump half a mill on the table and get 50 custom ECUs to make the TT's work at that level without a piggyback or standalone.

Although the F458 doesn't make a boatload of TQ it does turn serious rpm, so I'm betting although it may only be rated at a certain torque rating due to the insanely high rpm it can stand, the lower rev limit of the SLS will help the trans survive vs going to 8500rpm+ despite the increased torque.
